Miss ya Chief! Hope you’re keeping em line up there. Hard to believe it’s been a year already.

It is with heavy hearts that Spirit EMS announces the passing of a lifelong friend to the first responder community, Chief Doug Wright. He fought a courageous battle with cancer while continuing to serve his community. Doug will be greatly missed, but the many fond memories we have of him will live on.

In his retirement, Doug continued to work as a van driver for Spirit EMS, showing exceptional dedication even while battling cancer. He worked right up until the past several weeks, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to helping others.

Doug dedicated many years to the Union City, Ohio Fire Department, serving a significant portion of that time as Chief. He then continued his service at the Liberty Township Fire Department, where he held the position of Assistant Chief. Most recently, Doug served in an interim role as Chief of the Jefferson Township Fire Department in Montgomery County.

As further details regarding funeral arrangements become available, we will keep all our Spirit EMS friends informed. Please keep the entire Wright family in your thoughts and prayers. In the famous words of Doug, “You be good now.”

What an incredible day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway!
We are truly grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an unforgettable experience alongside our partners at AMR/GMR. The partnership between Spirit EMS and this outstanding team continues to open doors and create moments that go far beyond expectations.

A special thank you to Amy McKenney, Randy Stozek, Shane Smith, Mike Stozek, and so many other exceptional leaders who welcomed us with such sincere hospitality. Your dedication, thoughtfulness, and attention to every detail did not go unnoticed. Randy, your knowledge and passion made the experience even more meaningful—truly phenomenal.

Throughout the day, it was clear how much heart goes into what you do. From meaningful conversations to once-in-a-lifetime moments, everything reflected a deep commitment to people and purpose. Watching our family and guests experience these opportunities—including unforgettable encounters like meeting astronaut Jeremy Hansen—was nothing short of special.

Even beyond the track, the day brought unexpected blessings and connections that remind us how powerful this partnership truly is. These are the moments that stay with you.

As we head into race day today, we will also take time to remember Robert “Bob” Miller and honor his many contributions over the years. His legacy of service and leadership continues to inspire so many within the EMS community.

Thank you again to everyone who made today so meaningful. We’re looking forward to another great day—and as always, the Spirit team is ready to jump in like a well-rehearsed pit crew if needed.

This summer is a great opportunity for college students to start something meaningful.

Spirit Emergency Medical Services is partnering with Miami University Work+ and Wright State University Work+ to offer an EMT class opportunity that is open to any college student. Earn while you learn, gain real-world EMS experience, and take the first step toward a rewarding career serving others.

Our summer EMT class begins June 22 and runs through July 31, 2026, with classes held in Greenville, Ohio. A hybrid option is also available.

If you are a college student looking for a flexible summer opportunity that can lead to real experience and a real career path, this is a great place to start.

Exciting things are happening at Spirit EMS!

The John and Iris Hathaway Community and Education Center is continuing to make great progress, and we are excited to share a look at how far this project has come.

This center will be more than just a building. It will be a place for education, training, community outreach, and continued growth for EMS providers and the communities we serve.
