Our Funeral Director and Manager, Joe Murray, which most of you have come to know very well in the 7 years he has been here with us, is hosting a fund raiser event on October 3rd. The event will be a Coed flag football tournament. The purpose of the event is to raise money for an organization called My Sisters Place, which deals with helping domestic abuse victims. The organization provides survivor-centered support, emergency housing and transitional-to-permanent housing, counseling, as well as workforce development program and financial education and empowerment program.
Joe decided to spearhead this event and and chose this organization and cause to raise money for because it is near and dear to his heart. His aunt, Toniann Murray, was a victim of domestic abuse years ago and passed away due to the violence. So maybe this event, besides raising money, will raise awareness to this terrible situation that is so common across the country, and go to help more victims stand up and get help.
There will be a 50/50 and items to be raffled off at this event also, and people will be able to buy raffle tickets in advance with more information to follow in the next week or so.
So even if you will not be participating in the event, please find it in your heart to donate to an amazing cause, and help this organization continue their great work.
