This May, for National Speech Language and Hearing Month, we are proud to shine the CSHA Colorado Company Spotlight on Marion Downs Center.

Their story started in 1918, when the Denver League of Hard-of-Hearing came together to support neighbors navigating hearing loss. More than a century later, that same spirit of community still drives everything they do.

In 2015, the Marion Downs Hearing Center and the Center for Hearing, Speech, and Language joined forces to become the Marion Downs Center (MDC), combining decades of expertise under one roof and one mission: to enrich lives by providing high quality, person centered services to anyone facing communication challenges, regardless of financial circumstances.

From hearing healthcare for infants through adulthood to specialized speech therapy for children, MDC is making sure every voice in our community has the chance to be heard. None of it would be possible without the partners, foundations, donors, and advocates who show up for this work every day.

Thank you, Marion Downs Center, for over a century of compassion, innovation, and accessibility in the Denver Metro Area. Colorado is lucky to have you.

Q. What do you love about being an audiologist?

“I love being able to interact with a wide variety of people on a daily basis! It is exciting when people start to understand that there are options and strategies that can help improve their communication and listening success, which can then improve their everyday lives. Information sharing and professional support on their hearing journey are so important!”

Q. What do you feel is your specialty?

“I really love working alongside current Doctor of Audiology students. It is rewarding to help guide them into developing solid technical and clinical skills that will give them a good foundation as they build their careers. Students bring fresh perspectives and different outlooks, which help keep me excited about the future of Audiology!”

Q. What is a fun fact that people may not know about you?

“I am a language and culture loving person, and have lived in Sweden, The Netherlands, and West Germany (while serving in the U.S. Air Force). It is fun try and greet people in their heart language if I can or learn a new greeting from them! We all love hearing a familiar word or two when we are in an unfamiliar place – it can be very encouraging!”

We’re so grateful for the care, leadership, expertise, and compassion Julie brings to our patients each day—thank you for all that you do! 💙

Q. What do you love about being an audiologist?

“I love helping people reconnect with the parts of life that matter most to them. Whether it is hearing a grandchild’s voice clearly, enjoying music again, or communicating confidently at work and home, it is incredibly rewarding to make a meaningful difference in someone’s daily life.”

🎉 It’s National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, and we’re celebrating the amazing people who make a difference every day at the Marion Downs Center! Meet Jordan Belanger, AuD!

Q. What do you love about being an audiologist?

“What I love most about being an audiologist is helping people reconnect — to conversations, relationships, and the moments that matter most. Better hearing can mean more confidence, independence, and connection. By helping individuals improve communication and access, I get to play a small role in supporting their independence, confidence, and ability to connect with the people and experiences that matter most to them.”

Q. What do you feel is your specialty?

“I don’t have just one specialty — audiology is so interconnected, and I believe a well-rounded approach helps me best support each patient. I’m especially passionate about working with children. No two children are the same, and I love being able to meet each child where they are to create a positive experience for both them and their caregivers while still obtaining the information needed to provide answers and guidance. I also work with adult diagnostic evaluations, hearing aid fittings, and cochlear implant services.”

Q. What is a fun fact that people may not know about you?

“One thing people may not know about me is that I have a horse that I moved across the country with me. If I am not at work, you can usually find me at the barn riding.”

We’re so grateful for the care, expertise, and compassion Jordan brings to our patients each day—thank you for all that you do! 💙
