👁️ What does 20/20 vision actually mean?

Having 20/20 vision means you can see at 20 feet what a person with normal vision can typically see at 20 feet.

But here’s something you may not know: 20/20 vision doesn’t necessarily mean your eyes are perfectly healthy.

Eye exams check much more than how clearly you can see. They also help evaluate your eye pressure, retina, optic nerve, peripheral vision, and overall eye health.

So even if your vision seems perfect, routine eye exams are still important! 👓

✨ Seeing new flashes or floaters? Don’t ignore them.

While occasional floaters can be common, a sudden increase in floaters, new flashes of light, or changes in your vision can sometimes be a warning sign of a retinal tear or retinal detachment.

Early evaluation is important when it comes to protecting your vision. If you notice sudden changes, contact your eye doctor promptly. 👁️

Your vision is worth protecting.

📸 A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words—Especially When It Comes to Your Eyes! 👁️

Fundus photography allows us to capture detailed images of the back of your eye, including the retina, optic nerve, and blood vessels.

These images can help our doctors detect and monitor changes associated with conditions like diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other retinal conditions—sometimes before you notice changes in your vision.

At Coleman Eye Center, advanced technology helps us take a closer look at your eye health and track changes over time.

👁️ **Ever wonder why we check your eye pressure?**

IOP, or intraocular pressure, is the pressure inside your eye. Elevated eye pressure can be an important risk factor for **glaucoma**, which can damage the optic nerve and affect your vision over time.

The important part? You may not notice any symptoms when your eye pressure is elevated.

Regular comprehensive eye exams allow us to monitor your eye pressure and look for other signs of glaucoma—helping protect your vision for years to come.

👁️ Know the Signs of a Detached Retina

A detached retina is a medical emergency that requires prompt treatment to help protect your vision.

Happy Birthday in Heaven to the one and only Dr. Michael Coleman. 💙

There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t miss your smile, your stories, your wisdom, and the way you could make everyone laugh—even on the busiest days.

You had a gift for making patients feel at ease, treating everyone like family, and keeping the entire office on our toes with your quick wit. We can only imagine Heaven got a little louder (and a lot more entertaining) the day you arrived. We have no doubt you’re keeping everyone laughing up there, too.

Thank you for the legacy you left behind, the lives you changed, and the example you set for all of us. We celebrate you today with grateful hearts, cherished memories, and plenty of smiles.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Coleman. We know Heaven is celebrating with you today. ❤️🎉

👁️ See Beyond the Standard Eye Exam with OCT Technology

At Coleman Eye Center, we’re committed to providing the most advanced eye care possible. That’s why we use Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)—a quick, painless imaging test that gives our doctors a detailed look beneath the surface of your retina.

An OCT scan can help detect and monitor eye conditions such as:
• Macular degeneration (AMD)
• Diabetic eye disease
• Glaucoma
• Macular holes and retinal swelling
• Other retinal and optic nerve conditions

Think of it as an “MRI of the eye”—allowing us to catch changes early, often before you notice any symptoms.

✨ Early detection can make all the difference when it comes to protecting your vision.

If you’re due for your annual eye exam or have concerns about your vision, we’re here to help.

📞 Call Coleman Eye Center today to schedule your appointment and keep your eyes healthy for years to come.
