Common Wormwood has been used as a powerful folk remedy for thousands of years.

It’s botanical name, Artemisia absinthium, is telling when you think of it being a primary ingredient in the popular drink Absinthe. Absinthe was a potent and bitter herbal tonic with quite a bit of controversy around it.

In 1597, a British herbalist named John Gerard wrote “Wormewood voideth away the wormes of the guts.”

When the bubonic plague returned to England in the 17th & 18th centuries, people would burn wormwood to fumigate their houses.

The history behind this plant is truly fascinating. Certainly worthy of taking some time to dig into.

And here at Eclectic Herb, we truly love wormwood for its bitter properties, and the incredible digestive support it provides.

It’s a primary ingredient in our ParaFight blend, which you can find linked in our bio.  We have it in capsule, alcohol extract, and glycerine formulas for you.
