Insurance-based physical therapy doesn’t have to mean rushed care.

There’s a misconception that accepting insurance automatically means 15 minutes with a therapist, a hot pack, a few exercises, and a generic home program.

That’s not how we do it at PTS.

Our patients are scheduled for 30 minutes of 1-on-1 time with their therapist, plus additional treatment time when their plan of care requires it. And that time is intentional.

Every visit has a framework:
→ Manual Therapy & Reassessment
→ Mobility Activities
→ Neuromuscular Training
→ Functional Strengthening

But the exercises aren’t pulled from a generic list. They’re selected based on the patient’s diagnosis, goals, response to treatment, and where we want them to progress next.

And perhaps most importantly, the next visit is planned before the patient walks out the door.

Their therapist already knows what was accomplished today, what needs to progress, and what the next session should look like. That plan is ready when they return.

No digging through old notes.
No guessing.
No wasted treatment time.

When your schedule, documentation, and clinical plan actually work together, everyone benefits — especially the patient.

Insurance-based care. Thoughtfully designed. Patient-focused.

What happens when you put a group of people together who genuinely love what they do?

You get a team that gets excited when a new patient walks through the door, celebrates the small wins, and genuinely cares about the people they treat.

We asked our team one simple question: Why do you love working at PTS?

Their answers say it better than we ever could.

We’re proud to be a privately owned practice where therapists have the opportunity to build relationships with their patients, practice the way they believe is best, and work alongside a team that supports them.

And if you’re a therapist or healthcare professional looking for a place where you can grow, be challenged, have fun, and actually enjoy coming to work every day...
We’d love to meet you.

Because the right workplace doesn’t just make better therapists.

It creates a better experience for our patients.

When can I return to sport?

The answer shouldn’t simply be: “You’re X weeks out.”
And it shouldn’t be based on manual muscle testing alone.

MMT has a place in rehabilitation, but it is a relatively low-level measure of strength and doesn’t tell us how an athlete will perform under the demands of their sport.
For return-to-sport decisions, we need to look at the whole picture:
• Strength
• Power
• Neuromuscular control
• Movement quality
• Sport-specific loading
• Limb symmetry
• The ability to tolerate the demands of competition

That’s why we use functional testing like the Limb Symmetry Index to compare performance between limbs and identify deficits that may not show up during a basic strength assessment.

For this college baseball athlete, we’re not just asking, “Does the knee feel better?”
We’re asking: Can it perform?

Because a calendar can tell you how long you’ve been injured.

Performance tells us how ready you are.

A Sidelying hip abduction can absolutely be a great exercise- especially early in rehab.

But strengthening in one isolated position isn’t always enough.

as you get stronger, your rehab should progress towards movements that challenge your body the way you actually use it.

A lateral lunge requires your hip to control movement while your body shift side to side, making it a more functional progression for activity that require lateral movement balance, and lower extremity control.

The goal isn’t to ditch the basics. It’s to build on them.

Train the muscle ➡️ train the movement ➡️ train for what you actually want to do.

Recovering from a knee injury isn’t just about getting rid of pain—it’s about preparing your body for the demands of your sport.

For this college baseball player, we’re using the Tidal Tank to challenge lower extremity stability, core control, balance, and rotational power. The constantly shifting water creates unpredictable resistance, forcing the body to react the same way it has to during competition.

Even though the injury was at the knee, baseball is a full-body sport. Every throw, swing, sprint, and change of direction relies on the entire kinetic chain working together.

That’s why return-to-sport rehab should be sport-specific. Our goal isn’t simply to clear an athlete to play—it’s to help them return stronger, move with confidence, and reduce their risk of reinjury.

⚾ The best rehab doesn’t just heal the injury. It prepares the athlete for the game.

Does your thumb hurt when you push yourself out of a chair, get off the floor, or do yoga?

Those activities place significant compressive forces across the thumb CMC joint. While arthritis is certainly part of the picture, it’s often not the whole story.

Hand therapists can evaluate surrounding structures that influence thumb mechanics, including:
• The first dorsal interosseous (FDI), which can pull the thumb into adduction and increase joint compression.
• The superficial radial sensory nerve, which can contribute to pain and hypersensitivity around the base of the thumb.
• Thumb stability, strength, and movement patterns.

Treating these impairments alongside strengthening and joint protection strategies often leads to better outcomes than focusing on the arthritic joint alone.

If thumb pain is limiting your daily activities, an individualized evaluation can help identify what’s truly driving your symptoms.

Frozen shoulder isn’t just about having a “tight shoulder.”
Adhesive capsulitis occurs when the connective tissue surrounding the shoulder joint becomes inflamed and contracts, making even simple movements like reaching overhead, putting on a jacket, fastening a bra, or sleeping comfortably incredibly difficult.

As motion becomes limited, your body naturally finds other ways to accomplish the task. Your shoulder blade moves differently, your neck works harder, your trunk rotates more, and even your hips begin to compensate.

While these strategies may help you get by temporarily, they often lead to additional pain and inefficient movement.

Our goal isn’t simply to improve shoulder flexibility—it’s to restore normal movement throughout the entire kinetic chain.

Treatment often includes:
• Manual therapy to improve joint mobility
• Targeted stretching based on your stage of healing
• Strengthening the rotator cuff and shoulder blade muscles
• Thoracic spine mobility
• Functional movement retraining so your whole body works together again

Recovery from frozen shoulder takes time, but the right rehabilitation program can help restore motion, reduce pain, and get you back to everyday activities with confidence.

Have you or someone you know experienced frozen shoulder? Let us know your biggest challenge in the comments.
