A fever can be scary for parents—but knowing when to monitor at home and when to seek medical care can make all the difference.

Most fevers are a sign that your child’s body is fighting an infection. While many can be safely managed at home, some symptoms require prompt medical evaluation.

Seek medical attention if your child:
✔️ Is younger than 3 months with a fever
✔️ Has a fever above 102°F that won’t come down
✔️ Has trouble breathing
✔️ Is difficult to wake or unusually sleepy
✔️ Has a rash, severe headache, or stiff neck
