💙 Introducing the Growing Together AAC Lending Library! 💙

Communication is a fundamental right, and we're committed to helping every child access the tools they need to express themselves.

Our AAC Lending Library allows families to:
✨ Donate AAC devices that are no longer being used
✨ Borrow devices while exploring AAC options or waiting for a permanent system

By sharing resources within our community, we can help more children find their voice and connect with the world around them.

Interested in donating or borrowing a device? We'd love to hear from you!

🚨Rookie parenting mistake that I am totally guilty of: asking when you mean telling.

"Do you want to put your socks on?"
"Do you want to clean up?"

When something isn't optional, turning it into a question can unintentionally invite a "No." 🙃

Try:
✔️ "Let's put your socks on."
✔️ "It's time to clean up."

A small shift in language can make expectations clearer and transitions smoother.

At Growing Together, we love sharing simple communication strategies that support children and make everyday routines a little easier. 💛

At Growing Together, connection is always at the center of what we do 🤍

Children learn best through authentic relationships, trust, play, and meaningful interactions — rather than continuous rewards or consequences. While compliance-based approaches focus on external motivation, we believe lasting growth comes from intrinsic motivation: helping children WANT to engage, communicate, learn, and connect.

That’s why we follow our clients’ lead, incorporate what they love, and embed therapy goals into natural opportunities throughout their daily lives. When kids feel safe, connected, and understood, progress becomes genuine and sustainable.

Connection first. Always.

What can your SLP actually help support?

Speech-language pathologists support so much more than speech sounds — and believe it or not this is nowhere near an exhaustive list.

SLPs work with people across a wide range of communication, feeding, and developmental journeys.

At Growing Together, we support pediatric clients with individualized, relationship-centered care that meets each child where they are. Whether a child is learning to communicate using AAC, building confidence in their voice, strengthening language skills, or navigating feeding challenges, we believe every child deserves support that honors their unique strengths and needs. 🫶🏽

It’s easy to think engagement has to come from toys—but some of the most meaningful interactions don’t require anything at all.

Songs, routines, movement, and shared experiences naturally invite connection. They create opportunities for children to participate, anticipate, and communicate in ways that feel fun and low pressure.

When the focus shifts from what is being used to how we’re connecting, it opens the door for more back-and-forth interaction, more language, and more joy in everyday moments.

Sometimes the most powerful tool is simply being present and playful.

We've said it once and we'll say it again...children do NOT need certain skills before they can begin speech therapy.

In early intervention, speech-language pathologists support the foundations of communication — including engagement, shared attention, play skills, understanding language, social communication, and early speech development.

Your child does not need to:
• Sit at a table
• Maintain eye contact
• Follow directions consistently
• Use sounds or words
• Imitate actions

Those are often the very skills therapy is designed to support.

In very specific situations, certain emerging abilities may be helpful, but if your child is not meeting milestones, you’re having difficulty gaining their attention, daily routines feel hard, or communication feels frustrating — that IS reason enough to connect with a speech-language pathologist!

Early support matters. And you don’t have to wait.
