One thing that I often see moms do is have a home therapy session. The intention is great and I much prefer working with families who are willing to do everything they can to help.
However, "everything" might be too much. Spending an hour at home working on speech goals with your child is a great idea in theory, but not often in ex*****on.
For some reason, kids often rebel and resist "structured work" with their parents. I know from attempting to do math homework with my own kids. It often ends with a frustrated parent and child.
I'd rather moms reinforce what they want to see in their kids speech in little increments throughout the day, even if only 5 minutes at a time rather than an hour long "sit down " of work.
So, model what you want to see and reinforce your child's attempts at improvement throught the day. You'll both be a lot happier!
