We’re proud to recognize our automated lab team and the important role they play in delivering timely, accurate patient care.

Using advanced technology, these professionals manage high-volume testing with speed and precision, processing hundreds of samples each day. Their work ensures that our clinicians have the reliable results they need to diagnose conditions, monitor treatment, and make informed decisions for our patients.

Though much of their work happens behind the scenes, the automated lab team’s expertise and attention to detail are essential to keeping care moving forward efficiently and safely for every patient we serve.

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Pauline Olsen, M.D., a dedicated OB/GYN who cared for generations of patients at Saint Francis Hospital for more than 25 years. In honor of Dr. Olsen and her remarkable career, we invite you to watch this special video we filmed as part of our 125th anniversary celebration, where she reflects on her time at Saint Francis,

Dr. Olsen’s impact extended far beyond the bedside. As a longtime member of the Saint Francis Hospital Foundation Board, she helped guide our mission and strengthen our commitment to serving the community with compassion and excellence. Her leadership, wisdom, and unwavering dedication shaped who we are today.

We are grateful for the lasting legacy she leaves behind—in the lives she touched, the colleagues she mentored, and the community she helped build.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

"I heard about the treatment and mentioned it to my urologist who recommended it enthusiastically and made the referral here to Saint Francis. That resulted in a consultation with Dr. Grew and Melissa which went really well. Answered all my questions and allayed any fears." said Don of his experience being treated for prostate cancer with CyberKnife.

The CyberKnife is a specialized robotic radiation machine used to deliver precisely targeted intense radiation to tumors located anywhere in the body.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we encourage you to take that first step. Care is personalized, and many people benefit from talk therapy, coping strategies, and lifestyle support—often without medication.

"Another vital part of Ernie’s recovery was how he chose to apply his progress. Rather than keeping it confined to clinical therapy, he directed it towards something he’s always cared about, golf.

He became involved with a program called Golfers in Motion, an offering through the Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital. The program encourages individuals with disabilities to enjoy the game through weekly sessions with PGA instructors and specialized instruction and equipment where needed.

In this kind of setting, recovery extends beyond physical improvement. It becomes social, shared, and outward facing. Activities like this reduce isolation, create connection through common interests, and provide a sense of continuity with the life that existed before diagnosis."

Thrive When illness reshapes everything, recovery becomes less about returning to the past and more about forging a new path forward.

We’re proud to recognize our microbiology lab team and the vital role they play in patient care every day.

Working behind the scenes, these experts analyze patient samples to identify bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other microorganisms that cause illness. Their work helps our clinicians quickly and accurately diagnose infections and choose the most effective treatments.

While patients may not always see them, the microbiology team’s precision, expertise, and dedication are essential to improving outcomes, supporting infection prevention, and keeping our community healthy.
