Roger Cecil, 82, of Hazard, KY passed away at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center on June 20, 2026, after a short stay at ARH for congestive heart failure.

Roger was born on April 12, 1944, to Hazel Bowling Cecil and Elmer Cecil in Hazard, Ky. While in high school, he met and married Katherine Alcorn. After graduating from Hazard High School in 1964, he went on to attend classes at the Hazard community college and later became Chief Draftsmen at H.A. Spalding Engineers. Roger and Katy had three children, Elizabeth, Roger, and Heather. They were divorced in 1980. Roger met Carol Lewis in 2002. They were lovingly committed since that time.

Roger was an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman. He loved family, nature, wildlife, and his cats and dogs. He was happiest in a deer stand, his garden, casting a line, or being with family. He knew the land better than most people could ever begin to understand. His love and knowledge will be missed.

Roger was preceded in death by his mother and father, his younger brother Wallace, and his baby sister Deborah Kay Brewer, who passed away recently on June 6, 2026. He is survived by his lady, Carol Lewis, his brother-in-law, HB, his children, Elizabeth Cecil (Al), Roger Wayne Cecil (Alicia), and Heather Nicole Turner (Sean). His grandchildren Julia Durham, Josh Durham (Josette), Jacob Cecil, Grace Cecil, Sam Cecil, Katie Rameriz (Pro), and Abigail Turner and great grandchildren, Taylor Durham, Jakobe Scott, and soon to be Anna-Maria Ramirez. Additionally, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, neighbors, and friends.

Gary Wayne Napier "Poker Player", age 72, of Louisville, KY, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Baptist Health Louisville in Louisville, KY. Gary was a member of Blair Memorial Baptist Church in Lost Creek, KY, for many years, and most recently enjoyed online services at Shelby Christian Church in Shelbyville, KY. He retired after many years as a coal truck driver. Gary had a deep passion for ancestry and photography and found great joy in spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He was skilled in woodworking and working on cars. Most would say that he liked to tinker. Above all else, Gary cherished his family. He especially treasured the time he spent with his family and will be deeply missed by his grandson, Chandler.

Gary was born on May 19, 1954, in Hazard, KY, to the late Han Napier and the late Margie Pollard Napier. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by One Brother: Larry Keith Napier. Maternal Grandparents: Chester & Lenora Pollard and Paternal Grandparents: Carl "Fish" & Edith Napier.

He is survived by his Wife of 47 Years: Wilma Wilson Napier; One Daughter: Ericka Gwyn Wooton (Nick) of Louisville, KY; One Grandson: Chandler Dominic Wooton of Louisville, KY, and his girlfriend, Rachel of Shelbyville, KY; Four Sisters: Barbara Napier (Steve), Doris Whitaker, Debbie Wooten (Randy) & Diane Scarberry (Eddie); Sister-In-Law: Paula Napier as well as A Host of Nieces, Nephews, Family & Friends.

Arrangements are being handled by Maggard's Mtn. View Chapel where the family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Friday, June 26, 2026. Funeral Service will be at Maggard's Mtn. View Chapel at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 26, 2026, with Dave Hamlin officiating. Interment will be at Engle-Napier Cemetery, Ary, KY.

Monica Ann Sculley, age 49, of Hazard, Ky., passed June 17, 2026, at her home. She loved to crochet and helping others. Monica's greatest love was her family & Friends.

She was the Daughter of the late Taylor Sculley & Norma Williams. She was also preceded in death by one Son: Zachery Taylor Eversole.

Monica is survived by Brian Fugate; One Son: Zane Eversole (Hannah); One Daughter: BriAnn Fugate, as well as A Host of Nieces, Nephews, Family & Friends.

A Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Burial will be at the Conway Cemetery at Rowdy, Ky.

Rosalee Everidge, age 78, of Bonnyman, KY, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Hazard Medical Center. Rose was a cook for A.B. Combs Elementary. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards and music. Rose had a big heart for animals. Above everything else her grandchildren was her world. She lit up every time one of them was with her and they brought out the best in her.

She was the daughter of the late Joe Ivey and the late Etta White Ivey. She is also preceded in death by her Husband: Paul Everidge; Son-In-Law: Johnny Gabbard; Sister: Ima Johnson; Brothers: George & Ivan Ivey and Great Grandchild: Robyn Bailey.

She leaves surviving One Daughter: Etta Gabbard; Three Sons: Lenville Everidge (Tina), John Paul Everidge (Lisa) & Robert Everidge (Selena); One Sister: Mima Hall; Nine Grandchildren; Two Step Grandchildren; Eleven Great Grandchildren; One Step Great Grandchild and A Host of Nieces, Nephews, Family & Friends

John Charles Prater, age 64, of Hazard, KY, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Hazard Medical Center. John worked as a Geologist for many years. He was an avid U.K. and NASCAR fan. He had a remarkable artistic and musical talent and enjoyed playing his guitar and drawing. John found peace in being by the water, fishing or playing golf.

He was the son of the late Walter Prater and the late Martha Gibson Prater. He is also preceded in death by One Brother: Gregory Prater and Sister-In-Law: Holly Prater.

He leaves surviving One Sister: Janet Smith (Don); Two Brothers: Jeff Prater (Sharon) & Michael Prater; Four Nephews: Chase Smith, Eric Prater (Katherine), Daron Prater (Monique) & Adam Prater (Lauren); Great Nephews: Elijah & Benjamin; Great Niece: Reece; Special Caregiver: Juanita Fields and A Host of Family & Friends.

Granville Herald, age 73, of Hazard, KY, passed Saturday, June 13th, 2026, at his home. Granville enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He also cherished his companionship with his little dog, Roscoe.

Granville was the son of the late Clyde Herald & Fannie Herald. He was also preceded in death by Brothers: Bruce, Clyde Jr., James, Peter & Lewis, and Sister: Kathy Herald.

Granville is survived by One Son: Granville Clemons; Two Sisters: Elva Herald & Sarah Herald; Three Brothers: Johnny Herald, Willis Herald & Harliss Herald, as well as A Host of Nieces, Nephews, Family & Friends.

Shadel Lewis, age 79, of Vicco, KY, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Hazard Medical Center. He was a retired coal miner. Shadel was a devoted Husband and Father. He was a man who found joy in simple pleasures. He enjoyed gardening, searching flea markets for hidden treasures, tinkering with projects or making a trade and sharing stories with others.

He was the son of the late Farmer Lewis and the late Zona Hall Lewis. He is also preceded in death by his Wife: Gaynell Banks Lewis.

Cheryl Lynn Campbell, age 67, of Rowdy, KY, passed Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Hazard ARH. Cheryl was known as a very good person; gentle and kind hearted. She also had a passion for dogs and other animals.

Cheryl was the Daughter of the late Arnold Campbell & Sylvia Aldene Campbell. She was also preceded in death by her Sister: Denise Ann Campbell.

Cheryl is survived by One Brother: Arnold Campbell, Defuniak Springs, Fl; Two Nieces: Alyssa Campbell & Melissa Newberry; Three Great-Nieces: Madalynn, Sylvia & Khaleesi and A Host of Family & Friends.

Wilmer Eugene “Dook” Combs, age 92, passed away on June 10th, 2026 in Hazard, Kentucky.

Born April 17th, 1934, Eugene was the second son of Roscoe Combs and Eva Feltner. Eugene was born, raised, and lived most of his life on Clear Fork of Lotts Creek in Knott County.

For over 60 years, he worked as a barber in Hazard - an occupation that provided for many and always kept him caught up on the talk of the town.

Outside of the barber shop that still bears his name, Eugene will be remembered for his beautiful rows of green beans, the many stories he shared on the porch, nights spent c**n hunting with brothers and friends, his avid support of UK basketball, and the countless hours he spent following kids and grand kids to sporting events far and wide. Known by his steady hands, calm demeanor, and caring voice, “Gene”, “Dook”, “Dad”, or “Papaw” was always there.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, as well as 3 siblings: Lois Mae, Jim, and Rab.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Anna Jean; his three children, Denise Gibson (Eddie), Dinah Hodges (Robert), and Dook Combs (Kamala); three siblings, Elmer Ray, Mac, and Sue; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Farewell to one half of “an old pair of Jeans”.

Visitation will be from 6-8PM Sat. June 13, 2026 at Maggard's Mtn. View Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 2PM Sunday June 14, 2026 at Maggard's Mtn. View Chapel with Jim Fields, Joshua Huff & Jeffrey Combs officiating. Burial will be at the Martin Feltner Cemetery, Clear Fork, KY.
