SMC Auxiliary members recently presented a $10,000 check to Sakakawea Medical Center to support the purchase of a new EKG system. 💙

The funds were raised during the Auxiliary’s Annual Community Turkey Dinner held in April. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the event!

🧠 May is Stroke Awareness Month

Here are 5 important facts about stroke:

1️⃣ Stroke kills brain cells. When blood flow to the brain is blocked or interrupted, brain cells begin to die.

2️⃣ There are different types of stroke. Ischemic (caused by a clot), hemorrhagic (caused by a rupture), and TIA—often called a “warning stroke.”

3️⃣ Stroke can happen again. About 1 in 4 stroke survivors is at risk for another stroke, but many second clot-related strokes may be preventable.

4️⃣ Prevention matters. Managing blood pressure, making healthy lifestyle choices, and following your care plan can help reduce risk.

5️⃣ Time lost is brain lost. Learn B.E. F.A.S.T. — Balance, Eyes, Face, Arms, Speech, Time to call 911.

Knowing the signs and acting quickly can save a life!
