Dear Dunaway’s Pharmacy Customers,
We want to provide an update regarding the prescription transfers many of you have requested to our pharmacy.
It has been nearly a week since Walgreens was provided both faxed requests and paper copies of the transfer authorizations completed by customers who have called or visited our pharmacy. Despite the large number of transfer requests submitted, we have received only a small portion of the requested prescriptions.
We understand how frustrating this has been, and we want you to know that we are working diligently every day to obtain your prescription information as quickly as possible.
While Walgreens purchased the prescription files from Dunaway’s Pharmacy, you have the right to choose where you receive your pharmacy services. We sincerely appreciate you choosing us and are committed to earning your trust.
Because these delays may affect patient care, we have contacted the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy for guidance regarding the transfer process. If you believe your prescription transfer has been unreasonably delayed, you may have the option to file a complaint with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy, and we are happy to help you understand that process if you wish.
We have also attempted to work through Walgreens’ management to help resolve these delays and will continue doing everything we can to advocate for our patients.
If you have been waiting approximately a week for your transfer and have gone without your medication—even if you have missed just one dose—please contact us immediately. Delays that interfere with a patient’s access to prescribed medication may have regulatory and, depending on the circumstances, legal implications. If you believe you have been harmed by these delays, we encourage you to document your experience, and we will assist you in filing a complaint with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy.
If you are running out of medication or are in danger of missing a dose, please call us immediately. We will do everything within our authority to help facilitate your transfer as quickly as possible. If necessary, I will personally go to Walgreens and stand at the pharmacy counter while their pharmacist reads us the transfer information needed to continue your care.
Our priority has always been—and always will be—our patients. Thank you for your patience, your support, and for trusting us with your healthcare. We will continue fighting for you every step of the way.
