Dealing with elbow discomfort during your daily routines or workouts? Just like other joints, where it hurts gives essential clues about what might be going on. 🦾💡
As show in the picture breaking down the location helps map out potential common causes:
Outer Elbow View (Lateral & Posterior):
Tennis Elbow: Pain on the outer side, often from overusing your forearm extensor muscles.
Triceps Tendon Pain: Discomfort at the back of the elbow, right above the olecranon.
Olecranon Bursitis: Pain, swelling, and distinct tenderness right over the bony tip of the elbow.
Inner Elbow View (Medial & Anterior):
Golfer’s Elbow: Pain on the inner side, typically stemming from overuse of the forearm flexor muscles.
Cubital Tunnel Irritation: Irritation of the ulnar nerve resting in the groove behind the inner elbow.
Biceps Tendon Strain: Pain focused in the front of the elbow near the tendon attachment.
Remember: Location gives clues, not a final diagnosis! Elbow pain is highly related to factors like gripping load, lifting volume, technique, and overall joint stiffness.
If a nagging ache is holding your training back, getting a professional assessment is the best way to build a proper recovery strategy.
