World Pet Memorial Day is a time to remember the companions who changed our lives with their unconditional love.

As veterinary professionals, it is a privilege to care for pets and support the people who love them through every stage of life, including the hardest goodbyes.

Today, we honor the cherished pets who are deeply missed but never forgotten. ❤️

🐾 Meet Bo! 🐶

Bo, a 2-year-old Labrador Retriever, visited us after injuring his tail while playing in the yard. Dr. Clifford and her nursing team quickly stepped in to perform surgery, which included a partial tail amputation, to get him on the path to healing. 💙

Bo is now back home, resting comfortably and recovering well. We’re wishing him a smooth recovery and lots of happy, healthy tail wags ahead! 🐕✨

🦖 Patient Spotlight: Dinosaur’s Comeback 🦕

Dinosaur, an 8-year-old Norwegian Elkhound, came into our ER at RBVH Hillsborough after being referred by their primary veterinarian for evaluation of a splenic mass.

Our team quickly came together- ER doctor Dr. Nielsen, Criticalist Dr. Dempsey, and Surgeon Dr. Nussbaum- to assess Dinosaur’s condition and determine the best path forward. After careful collaboration, it was decided that surgical removal of the spleen was the best option.

Thanks to the expertise and teamwork of our doctors, Dinosaur’s surgery was a success. Even better, he made a swift recovery and is now happy and healthy at home with his family 🐶💛

Stories like Dinosaur’s highlight the power of collaboration and compassionate care when it matters most.

In honor of Veterinary Assistant Week, we’d like to recognize each of our amazing veterinary assistants and share what they love most about their role on our team. 🐾❤️

✨ Lillian:
“Working as a veterinary assistant has pushed me academically by motivating me to better understand the science behind the care I provide. It’s encouraged me to strengthen my knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology so I can be more confident and effective in my role. Being in a hospital setting has shown me how important it is to apply what I learn in school to real-life situations, which has made me more focused, disciplined, and driven in my studies.”

✨ Angie:
“I love being a vet assistant because I get to care for animals when they need comfort and support the most. Plus, it’s rewarding to work alongside a team that helps pets stay healthy while building trust with both the animals and their owners.”

✨ Cece:
“What I love most about being a veterinary assistant is supporting the doctors and team while learning something new every day. Being able to care for animals during some of their most vulnerable moments and helping them feel safe and comfortable is the most rewarding part of my day.”

✨ Nicole:
“I love being a veterinary assistant because I get to comfort and care for animals when they need it most, treating each one like my own and doing everything I can to help them feel better. Every day brings something new, and I’m constantly growing and learning along the way. I also enjoy supporting the vet techs and doctors so we can provide the best care possible as a team.”

✨ Annie:
“Being an assistant has helped me gain so much experience with patient care, and I am so grateful for the technicians who have helped me along the way. It feels rewarding to be able to make patients feel safe and comfortable.”

Thank you all for your compassion, dedication, and the incredible care you provide every single day. We are so grateful for each of you! 🐶🐱💙
