💚 MENTAL ILLNESS AWARENESS WEEK
October 5–11, 2026
Building Community. Supporting Mental Well-being Together.
Mental health is part of everyone's life. And mental illness can affect anyone—regardless of age, background, or circumstances.
This Mental Illness Awareness Week, let's work together to increase understanding, reduce stigma, and make it easier to ask for help.
🧠 MENTAL ILLNESS IS MORE COMMON THAN YOU MAY THINK
More than 1 in 5 U.S. adults live with a mental illness.
Mental illnesses include many different conditions, including:
• Depression
• Anxiety disorders
• Bipolar disorder
• Schizophrenia
• PTSD
• OCD
• Eating disorders
• Substance use disorders
• And other mental, behavioral, and emotional conditions
These conditions can range from mild to severe and may affect relationships, work, school, physical health, and everyday activities.
🚫 LET'S BREAK THE STIGMA
Mental illness is not a character flaw.
It is not something someone should be ashamed of.
And asking for help is not a sign of weakness.
Sometimes the most important thing we can do is simply listen without judgment.
💚 5 WAYS TO SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH THIS WEEK
1️⃣ CHALLENGE STIGMA
Question assumptions and stereotypes about mental illness. Learn from reliable sources and listen to people with lived experience.
2️⃣ START A CONVERSATION
Ask someone how they're really doing. A simple “How are you feeling?” or “I'm here if you want to talk” can open the door to support.
3️⃣ SUPPORT SOMEONE
Check in. Listen. Encourage them to seek professional help when needed. You don't have to have all the answers—you can simply be there.
4️⃣ TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN MENTAL HEALTH
Make time for rest, sleep, movement, meaningful relationships, hobbies, and activities that help you recharge.
5️⃣ GET SCREENED & TALK TO YOUR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER
Mental health screenings can be a useful first step in recognizing symptoms. If something doesn't feel right, talk with a healthcare professional about what you're experiencing.
🌱 YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO IT ALONE
Mental health care can include different approaches depending on the person and condition, including psychotherapy, medication, peer support, community resources, or a combination of treatments.
Finding the right support can take time—and that's okay.
There is no shame in asking for help. There is strength in taking the first step. 💚

💚 SEMANA DE CONCIENTIZACIÓN SOBRE LAS ENFERMEDADES MENTALES
5–11 de octubre de 2026
Construyendo comunidad.
• Trastorno bipolar
• Esquizofrenia
• Trastorno de estrés postraumático (TEPT)
• Trastorno obsesivo-compulsivo (TOC)
• Trastornos de la conducta alimentaria
• Trastornos por consumo de sustancias
• Y otras condiciones mentales, conductuales y emocionales
3️⃣ APOYA A ALGUIEN
Pregúntale cómo está. Escucha.
4️⃣ CUIDA TU PROPIA SALUD MENTAL
