Hello everyone!
I hope you have all been enjoying the last few weeks of summer. Just yesterday we put all the West Ottawa and Kentwood school calendar dates of importance onto our calendar. I thought that was “so nice” that the districts were sending this out so early to get ready for that FIRST DAY back to school.
Then I looked at the calendar.
Today is AUGUST 13th.
Kentwood’s first day is AUGUST 24th.
West Ottawa’s first day is AUGUST 27th.
Wait a minute…. there is only 10 more days of SUMMER VACATION? (or 13 for W.O.)
How did that happen?!
I know - When you have had your own life jump up and surprise you with a surprise medical situation, that leaves you stranded and your leg elevated for several weeks, you loose all track of time. We just reached the 8 week milestone! Now I get to practice standing with the boot on, followed by standing with the boot off. Increasing the time from 1 minute up to 5 minutes, wash rinse repeat. The next goal is to start to take steps one at a time up to 5 with the boot on, then the boot off, wash rinse repeat. When that is complete, it will be time for my next set of total xrays from the tips of my toes to my knee. And if I have been a good girl, which I have, I will know that all my broken bones are now starting to “knit” themselves together and I will get the next set of instructions to recovery.
So saying all of that… Our next meeting will be on September 12, at Herrick Northside Branch. Starting at 11:00am - 1:00pm. It will be good to be able to get back to my desk and start catching up on the past 3 months of work after watching the ceiling fan spin, catching up on some series on TV and books and magazines, and trying to get more mobile and independent.
So enjoy your weekend - I will miss you all - and I’ll look forward to seeing you in September in person. October starts our ZOOM meetings - just in time for the weather change and the new routine.
And a special THANK YOU to all of you who have called, and emailed, and sent cards, and ideas for library online activities, and series on other stations, and loaning of OUTLANDER dvd’s. It sure beats coming across the REAL HOUSEWIVES and other brain numbing ick on TV. I told Jim to watch out for his tools, I have seen every THIS OLD HOUSE show and can now fix anything. He rolled his eyes, slapped his forehead, and said, “Sure, let's start by trying to stand first.” Another bubble popped by the human form of the bluebird of happiness.
Happy Hunting!
Megan (and Nurse Jim)
