A couple days ago it was a "shell-ebration" for National Turtle Day at The Plaza at Kāneʻohe! 🐢🌺

Our friends spent the afternoon coloring their very own honu — every shell a swirl of color and patience, no two alike. There's something wonderfully calming about slowing down with a handful of crayons and good company.

In Hawaiʻi, the honu is a symbol of good luck, peace, and a long, steady life — and our kupuna brought theirs to life with the brightest of smiles.

It was a "sand-sational" Best Friends Day at The Plaza at Kāneʻohe! 🌞🏖️

Our Hālia friends celebrated National Best Friends Day the very best way — building with colorful sand, painting, catching a matinee, and simply spending time together. Side by side with good company, every craft is a little more fun. 🎨

Because the activities are wonderful, but it's the friends who make the day. Here's to good company, old and new. 💛

Aloha nui loa from our ʻohana to yours. 🌴

🐶 A very good dog came to visit Hālia! Meet Yuzu 💛

Our friends from the Hawaiian Humane Society brought Yuzu, a sweet therapy dog, to spend the afternoon with our residents — and the room filled with tail wags, gentle hugs, and the biggest smiles. There’s something about a furry visitor that warms the heart like nothing else. 🐾

Mahalo, Yuzu, for all the aloha. Come back soon! 🐕

🧺 Nā Mea Lauhala — the beautiful art of weaving! 🌿

Our Plaza Voyages continued with a special presentation by Ella and her mother Lorna, a beloved Waikiki resident, who taught us about the many uses of lauhala. From weaving mats and hats to creating baskets and other practical items, residents gained a deeper appreciation for this important cultural tradition — and the craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations.

Mahalo, Ella and Lorna, for sharing your beautiful work and your manaʻo with us! 🤎

🌺 The talented Hula Maidens of Mānoa graced The Plaza at Waikiki with beautiful hula! 🤍

As part of our Polynesian Plaza Voyages, the Hula Maidens of Mānoa delighted everyone with performances that celebrated Polynesian culture and storytelling through dance. In hula, every gesture tells a story — and our residents were captivated by every graceful movement.

Mahalo nui to these wonderful wāhine for sharing their talent and aloha with our ʻohana. 💜

⚓ Plaza Voyages set sail for Polynesia this month! 🌊

Our residents journeyed across the Pacific, learning the rich traditions and history of the Polynesian Islands. We were honored to welcome Phila, a crewmember from the Polynesian Voyaging Society, who shared the incredible story of traditional wayfinding — how early navigators crossed thousands of miles of open ocean guided only by the stars, the ocean swells, and the flight of seabirds. 🌟

Residents even got hands-on, making their own island-inspired art to remember the voyage. What a journey it’s been! 🌴

May Day was Lei Day — and our kūpuna wore every color of the rainbow!

The Plaza at Kāneʻohe celebrated Hawaiʻi's most beloved tradition in full bloom today. From pink to gold to green, everyone draped in their brightest lei, swayed along to live ʻukulele and hula, and shared shakas all around. 🤙

A heartfelt mahalo to the musicians and hula dancers who filled the room with song, and to our residents who brought the aloha spirit to life. A lei is love you can wear — and today, there was plenty to go around. 💛

Aloha nui loa from our ʻohana to yours. 🌴

Place your bets — it was Casino Night at The Plaza! ♠️♥️♣️♦️

Our kūpuna traded the lobby for the felt today, stacking chips, reading their hands, and bluffing like seasoned pros. From pocket kings to a winning fan of cards, the table was buzzing with friendly rivalry and plenty of laughter. 🃏

A big mahalo to our team for dealing the cards and keeping the good times rolling. No matter how the chips fell, everyone walked away a winner. ♣️

Strawberries, crème, and a whole lot of smiles. 🍓

It was National Strawberries & Crème Day, so our kūpuna rolled up their sleeves and got to work — whisking, whipping, and folding fresh cream until it was just right. One of our resident chefs gave the bowl her signature thumbs-up of approval, and that was our cue to start scooping. 🥄

Mahalo to everyone who whisked, sliced, scooped, and savored alongside us today. Here's to more afternoons like this one.

Killer Queen came on and the room came alive. Just another afternoon at The Plaza at Kaneʻohe, where Freddie still gets the crowd moving. 🎵
