Our Audrey Lopez and Dr. Francine Vega proudly represented the Center for Behavioral Emergency and Addiction Research (CBEAR)(https://sbmi.uth.edu/cbear/) by presenting their impactful research poster at the Sixth Annual Texas Health Informatics Alliance (THIA) Conference this September in Frisco, Texas.
Highlighting the vital intersection of data science and behavioral healthcare, their poster demonstrated how innovative health informatics solutions can optimize community substance use interventions, enhance recovery support, and improve patient care across Texas. Her presentation sparked meaningful conversations on translating trustworthy health technologies into measurable real-world impact.

October is Fentanyl Poisoning Awareness Month, a time to educate Texans about the deadly dangers of fentanyl and help save lives.

Through Texas’ successful One Pill Kills campaign, we are giving Texans the tools to prevent, recognize, and respond to fentanyl poisoning.

Our Jessica Yeager and Yami Thomas recently led an impactful training session with the Harris County Emergency Corps, strengthening the critical referral process connecting first responders to individuals living with substance use disorder (SUD).
