The question every summer...what can we do with the kids!

Well, there is always swimming. But that can get boring very soon. There are subdivision pools if you don’t have one. You can always purchase a small one from Target or Walmart.

I love that Houston is a city that is family friendly. We have so many different things to do. Let's try to see what we can do:

Picture your children laughing uncontrollably as they leap and twist through the air at iRise Trampoline and Fun Park, where trampolines stretch wall-to-wall, and energy knows no bounds. That one is located at 7885 Farm to Market 1960 Road West, Houston. If that is far, there are many others located near where you live. The bad thing with that is babies and young children can't do lots there.

Or imagine them stepping into a storybook at 7-acre Wood Farm, where pony rides, mini golf course, a petting zoo, and even a thrilling zip line make the perfect ingredients for a day of rustic, hands-on fun. 4401 N Frazier St, Conroe, TX 77303 ((936) 890-2326)

If you feel like driving to Brenham, you can visit the iconic ice cream giant Blue
Bell creameries. They are located at 1101 S, Blue Bell Road, Brenham 77833 (800-327-8135).

The Houston Zoo is another fun place. The gardens are always pretty also.

The Children's Museum is a wonderful place to chill. Lots of fun kid's activities, climbing and treats! Located at 1500 Binz, 77004. This is the most kid friendly, and this area is full of museums.

If it is raining or for whatever reason you don't want to drive, if you go to Etsy, and put in children's activities, pages and pages come up that you can purchase for a few dollars or less and print out. They range from games, lists, writing activities and so much more. Then just print it out!

There has been much concern regarding the constant increase of parent refusal for their newborns regarding the Vitamin K injection (this is not a vaccine). It is very important to do your research regarding refusal of the Vitamin K injection. I have done a bit of research for you, but I encourage you to discuss this with your doctor.
Precious Baby Protectors want to make sure your baby is safe from day one!

Since 1961 all newborns have received a Vitamin K injection shortly after birth. Suddenly, possibly since COVID, parents have been refusing this injection for their newborns. All babies are born deficient in Vitamin K. which is vital to blood clotting, and cannot form what are called clotting factors, or substances in the body that help stop bleeding naturally. Life-threatening hemorrhagic bleeding can occur in infants up to six months of age, according to the CDC, especially in the brain and GI tract. Parents may be unaware that Vitamin K does not cross the placenta effectively and breast milk contains low amounts.

After investigating death certificate data from federal and state agencies and speaking with experts, ProPublica estimated that a "meaningful portion" of 700 births in which an infant died from spontaneous bleeding in the brain in 2024 were likely caused by vitamin K deficiency.

Studies conducted in 2017 showed 2.92% rise in Vitamin K. refusal, and in 2024 it showed a rise to 5.18%. This is alarming for the pediatric community.

The decline in vitamin K intake is still believed to be related to vaccine and medicine hesitancy, according to both the JAMA study and ProPublica investigation. Vitamin K is one of three interventions suggested for infants at birth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and major medical institutions, including the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), along with a hepatitis B vaccine and an antibiotic cream for the eyes. In December, the CDC, under health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s leadership, removed the Hep B vaccine as a recommendation, a move that was later paused by a federal court. An appeal is underway.

Gates are probably one of the number one concerns for our customers. Every year, 93,000 children under age 5 are treated in US emergency rooms. That is an average of 1 child every 6 minutes! And as predicted, nearly half of those are under age 1! Injuries to head and neck are about 76.3%. And a high percentage of the accidents occur at exactly 1 year old.

Quite interestingly, since 2008, 11.6% of stairway accidents have decreased. Part of that is reduced use of dangerous walkers.

What can we do to combat these stairway injuries? First order is to install secure gates. What that is essentially saying is to not purchase pressure gates. These gates are not secured into studs safety. If for instance if a child puts a little bit of pressure on the gate, it is likely to fall down the stairs, along with the child!
