The stories we tell ourselves matter.
Every day our minds are trying to make sense of the world. We take our experiences, our wounds, our fears, and our hopes, and we build stories around them.
But here's the question:
Are those stories true?
Or are they being filtered through fear, rejection, pride, insecurity, or past pain?
Scripture tells us to take every thought captive and to guard our hearts, for everything we do flows from them.
That means we don't just accept every thought because it entered our mind. We examine it.
Does this thought reflect the heart of Christ?
Does it produce love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control?
Or does it produce fear, offense, bitterness, anxiety, and division?
Not every story your mind tells deserves your agreement.
Ask God to help you see people, situations, and even yourself through His truth instead of your wounds.
When we allow God's truth to shape our thinking, our hearts begin to change. And when our hearts change, the direction of our lives changes too.
Guard your heart. Take your thoughts captive. Let Christ, not your fears, write the story.
