Not all belly fullness can be treated with a tummy tuck. 👀

One of the most important things Dr. Hustak evaluates before an abdominoplasty is where the abdominal fullness is coming from.

In this reel, she explains how intra-abdominal (visceral) fat can affect the appearance and outcome of a tummy tuck. If the upper abdomen remains rounded even when standing tall and flexing, some of that fullness may be coming from fat inside the abdominal cavity, rather than excess skin or subcutaneous fat.

And here's the important part: a tummy tuck cannot remove visceral fat. Surgery can tighten the abdominal wall and remove excess skin and fat beneath the skin, but visceral fat requires a healthy lifestyle approach.
