The 2026 MOAB 240 did not end the way anyone expected, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t create some unforgettable moments.

After months of preparation, training, and anticipation, the race came to an unexpected end under challenging circumstances. Not every race goes according to plan, and sometimes, the outcome is beyond our control. But the work, the lessons, and the experience will always be part of the journey.

Special thanks to my amazing sponsors for their support and for being part of this journey. Your belief in what we do makes a difference, both on and off the course:
-H&C Search
-Organikasmartdesign
-SilverWolf
-Corncrake

Most of all, a huge thank you to my Forever Tri crew for showing up, putting in the work behind the scenes, and being there through every challenge. This journey would not have been the same without you:
-Andrea Pinzon
-Armando Armellini
-Tom Madden
-James Walker
-Phil Cuppernell

After a lot of careful discussion, we’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to call the Moab 240. The weather has become too dangerous to safely continue — we’ve received reports of aid station structures blowing away, trees falling down, wind, rain, freezing temps — and we’re expecting conditions to get worse tonight.

We’re holding runners at their next aid station, and telling them to shelter there until crew or a shuttle can pick them up. Our aid station volunteers are ready to help keep them warm and safe while they wait.

Crews, please head to your runner’s nearest aid station and check in with volunteers when you arrive. We’ll have shuttles for runners who need to be picked up and will share more details soon.

We are so, so sorry. We know how much time, training, and heart every one of you has poured into this race, and this is not the ending any of us wanted. But the safety of our runners, crews, and volunteers will always be our top priority, and we won’t risk anyone getting hurt.

Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and for being part of this community.

IMPORTANT Moab 240 Update:

Crew, please do NOT try to drive to Bridger Jack to pick up your runner. The road is not passable right now and we don’t want vehicles to get stuck. We are working with emergency services to pick up runners.

Due to heavy rainfall, Cottonwood Creek—located a few miles past the Bridger Jack aid station—has reached flood levels and is unsafe to cross. As a result, a large group of runners turned back to Bridger Jack to join those already waiting out the storm. With these conditions in mind, we have made the decision to hold all runners at Bridger Jack.

Because the aid station cutoff is at midnight, all runners currently at Bridger Jack will conclude their race here. Furthermore, deteriorating road conditions mean everyone must stay overnight at the station. To ensure everyone is comfortable, we have dispatched a support truck equipped with additional shelters, heaters, propane, and food, alongside our HQ cook and staff. We are glad to share that the runners are safe, remain in good spirits, and are prepared to spend the night.

We will continue to issue updates as new information becomes available. If you have immediate questions, please reach out to the Race Director at [email protected].

Thank you,
Garrett Froelich
Race Director

The final moments before MOAB 240.

A little behind-the-scenes look at my pre-race thoughts as I prepare to take on one of the toughest endurance challenges.

The preparation is done. Now, it’s time to show up and keep moving forward.

Today, the journey begins. Let’s go, MOAB 240.

October started with some meaningful moments and I’ve been reminded of why I love sharing my story.

Going back to Texas A&M brought back memories of completing my own MBA in 2008. Seeing Bala Shetty again and being around students who are just beginning their own journeys was something special. The energy, curiosity, and excitement for what’s ahead reminded me of how much can change over the years.

Then, this week, I spent time with the soccer team at Elsik High School before speaking to a larger group of students. That first conversation felt especially personal. I’ve played soccer all my life, and growing up, my dream was to become a professional player. Life took me somewhere different, but being back on the field brought me right back to that dream.

Hearing the students’ reactions to my story was something I didn’t expect. For a moment, I had to collect myself.

This is a big part of what I hope to do through Forever Tri and SUSTAINED: share the lessons that come from endurance, leadership, setbacks, and showing up, and help people carry those lessons into their own lives.

The next challenge is already here.

After IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship and IRONMAN Waco 70.3, there’s not much time to slow down. MOAB 240 is next, and the preparation for a 240-mile race is a different kind of challenge.

Long hours. Long miles. Tired legs. And a lot of time to find out how much you’re willing to push when things get uncomfortable.

The race will take care of itself. Right now, it’s about doing the work, trusting the preparation, and getting ready for whatever the trail brings.
