Joyce Marie Hutsell, 85, of Hoxie, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, September 10, 2026. She was born on December 6, 1940, in Walnut Ridge to Weldon and Frankie Willfond and was a lifelong resident of Hoxie and the surrounding area.
Joyce was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Hoxie Baptist Church, where she faithfully served in many roles throughout the years. She was especially known for preparing meals for bereaved families and, in her later years, leading the song service. Her faith was strong, and her commitment to serving her church and others was a defining part of her life.
Joyce married Jimmy Hutsell on August 23, 1957, and together they built a life centered around family, faith, and home. Joyce loved her family deeply, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved cooking, particularly for large gatherings, and enjoyed gardening, canning, and working in her yard. She and Jimmy traveled to all 48 contiguous states during the 1980s and early 1990s.
She was outspoken and opinionated, and you always knew where you stood with Joyce. She held strong convictions and stood firmly by them. She found great joy in having family gathered around her table.
Some of her happiest memories were made with her family, especially during tamale days, when everyone gathered around the table for hours of cooking, laughing, talking, drinking tea, and snacking. She treasured road trips with Kaylan, time spent “piddling around”...

James Robert “Bob” Heard, 84, of Hoxie, died September 4, 2026, in the NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.
Born August 12, 1942, in his family’s home in the Oak Hill Community, son of Neal and Grace Lamb Heard. He was united in marriage to Shirley Warner in 1961. Bob was the owner and operator of the Heard’s Market in Hoxie for 50 years. He enjoyed fishing, collecting antiques and spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents; his son, Rob Heard; his father and mother-n-law, Ray and Lucy Warner; and a brother, Terry Heard.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; one son, Scott Heard of Portland, OR; one daughter-n-law, Toni Heard; two twin grandson, Brady Heard (Allie) and Drew Heard (Madalyn); three great grandchildren, Beau, Emalee, and Lukas; two brothers, Ted Heard (Dyan) and Joe Heard (Babs); two sisters, Dr. Linda Heard and Marsha Moore (Morris); and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 2 P.M. in the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge with Bro. Derek Collins and Bro. Skyler Guess officiating. Pallbearers will be Brady, Drew, Jon, Shane, Ted, and Joe Heard, Dominick Johnson, Tom Dulaney, and Beau Manus. Honorary Pallbearers are Alex Latham, Larry Jones, and JD Beary. Interment will follow in the Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 P.M. till 8 P.M. in the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge.

Karen Euphon Kelley, 87, of Walnut Ridge passed away September 2, 2026, in Jonesboro at the Flo
& Phil Jones Hospice House surrounded by her loved ones.
Born May 11, 1939, in Parma, MO, she was the youngest daughter and last surviving sibling of
seven children to the late Winfred Thomas and Elma Lee Skallion Warren. She was united in
marriage to Frank Kelley on January 2, 1960 and became a lifelong homemaker, loving wife and
doting mother and grandmother. She worked early in life as a Stenographer in Kansas City, MO. In
addition to a love of country cooking, gardening and sewing, she had a flair for family holiday
celebrations and traditions. A special passion was collecting and dealing antiques, so much that she
opened and operated the Olde Lamplighter Antiques Shop in Walnut Ridge. She also became an
established and well-respected Estate Appraiser.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Kelley of the home; two sons, Dana Kelley (Kelly), and Terry
Kelley (Sloane); one daughter, Carol Denise Helms (Ryan); twelve grandchildren, Mary Kate Cooper
(Chaning), Maggie Ray (Conner), Franklin Kelley (Perla), Lee Thomas Kelley, Susannah Kelley,
Cameron Kelley, Barrett Kelley (Kimia), John-Scott Kelley (Rebekah), Caroline Fisher (Carlton),
Elisabeth Schumaker (Jake), Ava Helms Hargrave (J.D.), and Benjamin Kruizenga; eight great
grandchildren, Cole and Max Cooper, Rosaleigh and Sully Ray, Liam Fisher, James, Emery, and
Addilyn Schumaker; and many other relatives...

Peggy Gene Lowry, 76, of Maynard, AR, passed away August 26, 2026, at the St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR. She was born May 17, 1950, in the Richwoods Community to the late Gene and Mary Matthews.
Peggy enjoyed finding a good deal wherever she went whether it be at Walmart, thrift stores, or a secondhand store. She also loved sitting out on her front porch with a book and watching the grandkids and great-grandkids playing out in the front yard. She was a big conversationalist, she loved to talk to anyone anywhere and she would talk and listen without judgement to anyone.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Dale Lowry Sr. as well as both parents, Gene and Mary as well as a brother Clyde Matthews and a sister Judy Fears. She is survived by two sisters Kelly McPherson and Mary Jane King, one brother Sidney Matthews, two sons Harold (Cassandra) Lowry of Maynard, Dale Lowry Jr. of Maynard, grandchildren Ashlee Lowry, Patriot Lowry, Liberty Lowry, Freedom Lowry, America Lowry, Ashtyn Lowry all of Maynard, Truth (CJ) Eveland of Noland. As well as two great-grandchildren Phoenix Lowry and Braxton Trammel of Maynard. And several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Cremation has been chosen as the final disposition by the family.

In loving memory of Robert Lynn Pratt, who passed away on August 31, 2026, we celebrate a life filled with generosity, dedication, and a profound love for family and community. Born on September 19, 1962, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, Robert was the beloved son of Dewell Herbert and Virl Josphine Pratt, who preceded him in death along with his brother, Julio (D.H. Jr.).

Robert was a devoted husband to Missy Pratt and a cherished father to his children: Adam (Cassie) Pratt, Magen (Eric) Elliott, Hali (Wesley) Hardage, Cara Beth (Dave) Bryant, and Bennett (Tisha) Dudley. He leaves behind a loving sister, Sue Whitmire, and six adored grandchildren: Saydee Pratt (Ethan), Reagan Elliott, Maya Elliott, Akkers Hardage, James Bryant, and Lowenn Virl Hardage, who will forever hold his memory in their hearts. Robert's legacy extends to many other relatives and friends who were touched by his generous spirit.

A proud graduate of Clover Bend High School in 1980. Robert was a successful entrepreneur owning and running multiple businesses throughout his lifetime. Robert dedicated his life to the salvage car industry, taking over his father’s business, Pratt's Auto Salvage, in 1983. Known for his hands-on approach, he was often seen covered in grease with a tool in hand, ready to tackle any challenge. His leadership and hard work earned him numerous awards in the industry. Charles Ervin Florer 70, of Walnut Ridge passed away August 25, 2026, at his residence.
Born August 16, 1956, in Long Beach, CA, he was the son of the late Charles Earl and Peggy Walters Florer. He was a veteran in the United States Army worked most of his life as a welder. He spent most of his free time working on cars, fishing, and working in the yard. He was a dedicated Christian.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four siblings.
Survivors include his brother, Donald Florer of Walnut Ridge; and one uncle, Delbert Pickney of Walnut Ridge; and many other relatives and friends.
Cremation has been chosen as his final disposition.

David Wayne Summit, 69, of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, passed away August 22, 2026, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House at St. Bernard's in Jonesboro, Arkansas, following a short but aggressive illness.
David, known to those who loved him as Dave, was born November 14, 1956, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, to Iris (Phillips) Summit and Ben Crum of Rockford, Illinois.
Dave will be remembered for his giving heart, outgoing personality, and willingness to help others. He had a deep love for his family and enjoyed traveling and watching movies. He was a knowledgeable man with a curious mind, and those who knew him could always count on him for a helping hand.
He is survived by his sister, Judy Taylor of Walnut Ridge; his niece, Christy Taylor-Henault and family of Conway, Arkansas; his nephew, Brad Taylor and family of Temecula, California; his brothers, Chuck (Melissa) Summit and Gary Summit, of the Tampa Bay area, Florida; as well as extended family members and several close friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Iris (Phillips) Summit of Walnut Ridge and Ben Crum of Rockford, Illinois.
During the final chapter of Dave's life, he was cared for with compassion at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House at St. Bernard's in Jonesboro. His family is deeply grateful to the nurses, physicians, hospice staff, and others who cared for him, helped keep him comfortable, and treated him with kindness and dignity.

Adam Michael Ellefritz, 39 of Brookland passed away August 21, 2026, in Jonesboro at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House surrounded by his loved ones.

Born August 19, 1987, in Macomb, IL, he was the son of the late Lyle and Veronica Remick Ellefritz. Adam was united in marriage to Dawn Wright on February 13, 2026. He spent most of his life working as a millwright and working at Farm Service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking random road trips, and just being outdoors in general. He was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded by one sister, Elizabeth; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn Ellefritz of the home; seven children, Evelyn and Zoey Harris, Kaitlynn Brawley, John, Hunter, Brentley, and Waylon Ellefritz; one brother, Randy (Lilly Stoker) of Hoxie; two adopted brothers, William (Sharon) Davis of Hoxie, and Jeremy Goforth of Smithville; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 2 PM in the Bryan Chapel with Bro. Stanley Vandergrift officiating. Cremation has been chosen as the final disposition.

Visitation will be Thursday from 12 PM until the time of service.

Wanda Louise Davis, 94 of Walnut Ridge, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, in the UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida; while visiting her son and family.

Born September 7, 1931, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She grew up in Sedgwick, and early in life she worked in Walnut Ridge, Jonesboro, and St. Louis, Mo. She met and married on October 13, 1951, W.B. “Dub” Davis in Walnut Ridge. They moved to Wayne, Michigan in 1953 to start a family and moved in 1983 to Brunswick, Georgia; and they retired in 1984 and moved to Orlando, Florida. In the early 2000’s, they moved back to Arkansas to help care for her mother, husband, and relatives. Her and “Dub” loved to travel and visited 49 of the 50 united states. She was a very faithful and active member of several Free Will Baptist Churches. Her greatest desire and prayer was for all people, especially her family, would be saved by JESUS and join her in Heaven!

She is preceded in death by her husband, W.B. “Dub” Davis, in 2012; her mother, Virginia Marguerite Veal Nichols; and four brothers, Jasper Garland Nichols, William “Bill” Grant Nichols, Charles Ray Nichols, and Thomas “Tom” Monroe Nichols.

Survivors include her son, Paul Allen Davis and daughter-n-law, Barbara Jeanne Davis; grandson, Daran Paul Davis; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many other relatives and friends.

Stacy Maxine Hudson, 53, of Maynard, AR, passed from this life on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at the St. Bernard Hospital in Jonesboro, AR. She was born March 18, 1973 in St. Louis, MO, to Barbara Massey. She was a homemaker most of her life. She loved collecting dream catchers and wind chimes.

She is survived by one son, Logan Hudson of Warm Springs, parents Barbara Higgins and Rick Higgins of Warm Springs, nephew Dylan Hudson of Pocahontas, nieces Taylor Hudson of Walnut Ridge, Erika and Olivia Hudson of Cherry Valley, and one brother Kevin Hudson of Pocahontas, several great nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her infant son Jacob Hudson, both maternal and paternal grandparents and her father.

A private memorial service will be held at a later with family and friends.
