Another WONDERFUL "Reading Pals Program" session, July 28, 2026 at Hubbard Public Library! The featured song was "Put On A Happy Face" from the 1960 musical "Bye, Bye Birdie"! Everyone was happily singing! Thank you to the wonderful Children's Room staff, Heather P., Dana T. and Rachel V. for another summer with this beautiful, creative and happy program! Beautiful Happy Fun AND intergenerational connections and bonding!!

Get ready for a LUNAR ECLIPSE next month! 🌑 On the night of August 27, a partial lunar eclipse will leave the Moon nearly swallowed by Earth’s shadow, and will be visible to most of North America.

Depending on where you live, here's when to see the eclipse in each time zone on August 27:

🌑 9:12 p.m. PDT
🌑 10:12 p.m. MDT
🌑 11:12 p.m. CDT
🌑 12:12 a.m. EDT on August 28

The entire eclipse lasts more than 5 hours, but the obvious partial phase—when Earth’s dark inner shadow crosses the Moon—lasts about 3 hours and 18 minutes. The above times reference the time of the maximum eclipse.

Photos from the second session of Summer 2026 Reading Pals program at Hubbard Public Library: Part TWO. Thanks to Rachel V. for amazing photos and to everyone in the library's Children Room for this beautiful intergenerational program! The book read was "My Path" by Jana Curll featuring an amazing, talented snail! And the activity was making a snail (or two) from clay and other materials! Wonderful reading, wonderful creating--wonderful fun!!

Another session of the Children's Room "Reading Pals" program, Tuesday, July 22nd! This week, the featured book read by children, their families and residents from Elmwood was "My Path" by Jana Curll. And the song that everyone sang was "We Go Together" from Grease! Thanks to Rachel V. in the Children's Room for this wonderful video! Thanks also to everyone in the Children's Room--Dana T., Rachel V., and Heather P. and Mrs. Russo (now retired) for creating and implementing this amazing "Reading Pals" program!!

The Delta Aquarids are right around the corner! ☄️ Look up into the night sky on July 30 - 31 to catch a shooting star! The waning gibbous Moon (98% full) will obscure the vast majority of the meteors, but the brighest ones should still be visible.

"Time Capsule" contents are on display at Hubbard Public Library through July and the first two weeks of August. Come in and view the documents and other materials discovered when the Time Capsule--buried in 1976--was 'unburied' and opened in June!! Thank you, Hubbard Public Library and everyone who works there for this wonderful piece of history!

John Samuel Waters Jr. is an American artist, actor, writer, and filmmaker born in 1946 and well-known for his offbeat cult films including "Multiple Maniacs (1970).
