LAUREL LAKE SPRING FESTIVAL CONCERT
The Laurel Lake Chorale, Handchime Choir & Handbell Choir performed two SPRING FESTIVAL CONCERTS this week. All three ensembles are accessible musical experiences for older adults, and are open both to residents and the public. Performances are always very popular and frequently filled up!

The concert featured a variety of music including: “¡Cantar!”, “Be Thou My Vision” a traditional Irish melody, “Song of Peace”, “High Hopes”, “Sicut Cervus”, “America”, “The Chicken Dance”, and a wonderful medley titled “The Beatles in Review”.

The Laurel Lake Chorale is directed by Donna Anderson. The Chime Choir is directed by Karen Benett and the Handbell Choir is directed by Sue Chamberlin. Special thanks to Ruth Anderson (piano) and Jill Rango (drum) for sharing their talents!

The ensembles will take the summer off and then resume rehearsals in the Fall. If you’re interested in joining one of these ensembles, please contact Donna (330-655-1436 / [email protected]). As much as 40% of the members come from the surrounding areas!

MAY EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH - Nancy Pucillo, Greenwood Activity Assistant

Congratulations to Nancy Pucillo, of Greenwood Activities, for being named Employee of the Month for May. No matter what she’s up to, Nancy is always smiling! Nancy has been with Laurel Lake for fifteen and a half years and works with residents in our Greenwood Assisted Living neighborhood. She plans and runs monthly exercise and learning activities as well as outings. Nancy encourages everyone to get involved. She and the rest of our wonderful Activities Department provide a wide variety of things for all of our residents every day. We appreciate all you do, Nancy!

CROWN CENTER CELEBRATES NATIONAL SKILLED NURSING WEEK
Join us in celebrating National Skilled Nursing Week in Crown Center, Laurel Lake’s 75-bed skilled nursing and rehab facility! Crown Center is especially proud to have received a Deficiency-Free Rating for 2026!

This year’s theme “Moments in Bloom” reflects on how everyday acts of compassion, connection, and teamwork grow into meaningful experiences for residents, families, and staff. Both big and small moments, when nurtured, can flourish to help residents live life to the fullest and with purpose.

Residents, staff, and volunteers of Crown Center, are celebrating with a Spring music session, a floral display made from resident and staff hands, ice cream social, musician Tony Midea, and growing flowers with the residents in our Crown Center Sprouts group.

LAUREL LAKE’S CROWN CENTER CELEBRATES DEFICIENCY-FREE SURVEY!!
Laurel Lake is proud to announce that Crown Center, our Skilled Nursing and Rehab Neighborhood at Laurel Lake, has earned a deficiency-free Ohio Department of Health survey for 2026! Both of Laurel Lake’s licensed areas - Crown Center Skilled Nursing and Rehab AND Greenwood Assisted Living have received deficiency-free surveys in the past year!! This exceptional accomplishment highlights Laurel Lake’s unwavering commitment to providing the highest levels of quality care.

What is a Deficiency-Free Survey?
A deficiency-free survey means that inspectors found Crown Center at Laurel Lake fully meets every federal and state standard for resident care, safety, and environment, with zero citations. In 2025, according to the KFF (a leading non-profit, independent organization focused on U.S. health policy, polling, and journalism), only 3% of Ohio nursing facilities earned this distinction, making it a meaningful mark of excellence.
