Celebrating 15 years of leadership! 🎉

This past week, our team surprised Ruben Rodriguez Jr., MA, BCBA, to celebrate an incredible milestone, 15 years with Love 2 Learn Consulting.

Ruben has spent over a decade pouring into the families and clinicians he works with. He has mentored new BCBAs, guided families through the ups and downs of their child's journey, and helped shape the warm, clinician-led culture that makes our team what it is.
We could not let this anniversary pass without celebrating him properly.

Ruben, thank you for every child you served, every clinician you mentored, and every family you encouraged. Your legacy continues to grow, and we are endlessly grateful to have you on this team.

12 years ago, Jose joined Love 2 Learn as a Behavior Interventionist.

Today, we get to celebrate him as Jose, BCBA. 💙🎓

Over those 12 years, Jose has grown alongside Love 2 Learn, building his clinical skills, stepping into leadership, supporting his teammates, and making an impact on so many children and families along the way.

And now, he joins one of the parts of our story we're most proud of:

Sometimes the hardest part of parenting is saying “no,” even when you know it’s the right thing. 💙

To us, “no” may feel like a simple boundary.

To a young child, it can feel like the loss of something they were expecting, a sudden change in plans, or a disappointment their nervous system is not yet ready to manage.

What looks like defiance may actually be a child learning how to handle big feelings, communicate frustration, and adapt to change.

The goal isn’t to remove every hard moment. It’s to help your child move through those moments with someone they trust.

You can hold the boundary and stay connected.
💙 “I know this is hard.”
💙 “I’m here with you.”
💙 “First we do this, then we can choose something else.”

Children do not need us to make every disappointment disappear. They need us to help them feel safe enough to get through it.

At Love 2 Learn Consulting, we support children through compassionate, play-based care that helps build emotional regulation, flexibility, communication, and confidence, one connected moment at a time.

When your child has a hard time moving on, they are not trying to make the moment harder for you. The change may simply feel harder for them. 💙

Leaving a favorite activity, getting ready to go, or shifting into a new routine can bring up big feelings. Your child may cry, say “no,” hold on tighter, or need more time than you expected.

In those moments, a gentle warning can help them feel understood and prepared:

💙 “Two more minutes, then we’ll clean up.”
💙 “One more turn, then we’re all done.”
💙 “First shoes, then car.”

A timer, countdown, or simple picture can also help your child see what is coming next.

These small supports may not make every transition easy, and that is okay. What matters is that your child does not have to navigate the change alone.

Sometimes, the most helpful thing we can offer is a little more patience while their body and feelings catch up. 💙

💙 "Some kids don't need to try harder. They need to be understood differently."

That idea is what inspired Juliana D. to join Love 2 Learn, and we're excited for the families she'll impact along the way.

As a child, Juliana struggled with math until someone taught it in a way that finally clicked. That experience shaped how she views children today: every learner deserves someone willing to find the path that works for them.

She's especially passionate about building rapport, creating a safe and friendly space, and helping children feel seen for who they are, not misunderstood for what makes them different.

Fun fact: When she's not supporting children and families, you'll find her dancing anywhere she can, whether that's with friends, in her room, or dominating a game of Just Dance. 💃✨

Before the fireworks, here's a reminder many families need to hear...

A successful Fourth of July is not measured by how long your child stays at the event, sits through the fireworks, or follows the family's original plans.

A successful Fourth of July is one where your child feels safe, supported, and connected.

For many children, especially young children and those with sensory sensitivities, Independence Day can bring excitement alongside challenges. Loud noises, crowded spaces, unfamiliar foods, late bedtimes, and changes in routine can quickly become overwhelming.

A few simple strategies can make a big difference:

💙 Preview the day before it starts
💙 Bring headphones, comfort items, or sensory supports
💙 Keep familiar snacks and drinks available
💙 Create a quiet place to take breaks
💙 Watch your child's cues and honor their needs
💙 Give yourself permission to leave early if needed

Remember: adjusting the plan is not a failure.

It's responsive parenting.
It's helping your child feel understood.
It's creating the safety that allows confidence and independence to grow over time.

At Love 2 Learn, we believe freedom is something children learn through love, safety, trust, and belonging. Every child deserves opportunities to grow, communicate, connect, and participate in ways that honor who they are.

As a reminder, our office will be closed on Friday, July 3rd, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. We will resume normal business hours on Monday.
