With students returning to school this Wednesday, we are asking everyone to begin thinking about school safety now.

Starting this week, you’ll notice more school buses on the road, increased traffic during the morning and afternoon hours, and children walking to bus stops and crossing streets. The decisions you make behind the wheel can save a life.

Please plan ahead by leaving a few minutes earlier, slowing down in school zones, putting your phone away while driving, and remembering to stop for school buses when required by law. Sheriff’s deputies will be out across Madison County helping ensure a safe start to the school year, but we need your help. Let’s work together to make sure every student arrives safely on the first day of school, and every day after.

Huntsville is moving forward on its first scatter garden at historic Maple Hill Cemetery. At the most recent City Council meeting, a contract was approved to design a peaceful new space for families to remember and reflect.

Expected to be completed in 2027, the scatter garden will provide a respectful, intentional setting where families can find comfort in remembering their loved ones. 🫶
