☀️ Labor Day Weekend is here! ☀️
If you’re heading outside this weekend, soak up the sunshine—but remember, your skin has its own defense system, and what you eat can help support it.
Think of your plate as another layer of protection:
🍅 Tomatoes & watermelon — rich in lycopene, a powerful antioxidant studied for its ability to help protect skin from UV-related damage.
🥕 Carrots & sweet potatoes — packed with beta-carotene, which supports the skin’s natural defenses.
🫐 Berries — loaded with anthocyanins and other antioxidants that help combat oxidative stress.
🥬 Leafy greens — provide carotenoids and vitamin C to support healthy skin.
🥑 Avocado, nuts & seeds — healthy fats and vitamin E help support the skin barrier and its ability to recover.
And if you got a little too much sun? 🌞
Reach for foods rich in vitamin C, polyphenols, carotenoids and omega-3 fats—think raspberries, citrus, leafy greens, tomatoes, flax, walnuts and colorful vegetables. Your body has an incredible capacity to repair and rebuild when you give it the right raw materials.
Of course, food is not a substitute for sunscreen, shade, clothing or smart sun exposure. But it is part of the bigger picture of caring for your skin from the inside out.
And speaking of taking care of ourselves… ❤️
🌿 TOMORROW: 12-HOUR WALK FOR PEACE 🌿
Saturday, September 5 | 6:00 AM–6:00 PM
Bring plenty of water, snacks/lunch, sunscreen, a hat, comfortable shoes—and maybe a little extra grace for those of us who will inevitably wonder, “Whose brilliant idea was it to walk for 12 hours?” 😂
We’ll meet at the gazebo at Sunrise Park. I’ll be there by 5:45 AM, with a few words and a blessing at 5:55, and then we’ll head out at 6:00.
Come for the miles.
Come for the silence.
Come for the connection.
Come for peace. 🕊️
And yes…we may be tired, sweaty, and very ready for a shower by 6 PM. But hopefully a little more peaceful, too.
Happy Labor Day Weekend! ❤️
