☀️ Labor Day Weekend is here! ☀️

If you’re heading outside this weekend, soak up the sunshine—but remember, your skin has its own defense system, and what you eat can help support it.

Think of your plate as another layer of protection:

🍅 Tomatoes & watermelon — rich in lycopene, a powerful antioxidant studied for its ability to help protect skin from UV-related damage.

🥕 Carrots & sweet potatoes — packed with beta-carotene, which supports the skin’s natural defenses.

🫐 Berries — loaded with anthocyanins and other antioxidants that help combat oxidative stress.

🥬 Leafy greens — provide carotenoids and vitamin C to support healthy skin.

🥑 Avocado, nuts & seeds — healthy fats and vitamin E help support the skin barrier and its ability to recover.

And if you got a little too much sun? 🌞
Reach for foods rich in vitamin C, polyphenols, carotenoids and omega-3 fats—think raspberries, citrus, leafy greens, tomatoes, flax, walnuts and colorful vegetables. Your body has an incredible capacity to repair and rebuild when you give it the right raw materials.

Of course, food is not a substitute for sunscreen, shade, clothing or smart sun exposure. But it is part of the bigger picture of caring for your skin from the inside out.

And speaking of taking care of ourselves… ❤️

🌿 TOMORROW: 12-HOUR WALK FOR PEACE 🌿

Saturday, September 5 | 6:00 AM–6:00 PM

Bring plenty of water, snacks/lunch, sunscreen, a hat, comfortable shoes—and maybe a little extra grace for those of us who will inevitably wonder, “Whose brilliant idea was it to walk for 12 hours?” 😂

We’ll meet at the gazebo at Sunrise Park. I’ll be there by 5:45 AM, with a few words and a blessing at 5:55, and then we’ll head out at 6:00.

Come for the miles.
Come for the silence.
Come for the connection.
Come for peace. 🕊️

And yes…we may be tired, sweaty, and very ready for a shower by 6 PM. But hopefully a little more peaceful, too.

Happy Labor Day Weekend! ❤️

When we think about movement, we often think about stronger muscles, better balance, or a healthier heart.

But movement is also brain medicine.

It supports circulation, cognition, mood, energy, and the resilience we need as we age.

And this is why I believe in a holistic approach to aging well.

We don’t just nourish the body.
We challenge the body.
We calm the nervous system.
We nourish the mind.
We cultivate connection.
We create space for rest and reflection.

It’s all connected.

Which is one of the reasons I love my Wednesday 4:30 Circuit class at The Yoga Garden . ❤️

We move, strengthen, challenge ourselves, laugh, and leave feeling energized—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally, too.

Because aging gracefully isn’t about doing one thing perfectly.

It’s about caring for the whole you. 🌿

Body. Brain. Mind. Spirit.

That’s the heart of my Aging Gracefully philosophy.

🍂 New month. New season. New opportunity to come home to yourself.

September invites us to pause, reset, and ask:

What am I ready to nourish?
What am I ready to release?
How do I want to feel in this next season of my life?

I believe food can be medicine. 🌱
A whole-food, mostly plant-based way of eating can be profoundly healing — but healing is about so much more than what’s on your plate.

It’s how you move.
How you breathe.
How you think.
How you rest.
How you connect.
And how willing you are to listen to the wisdom already within you.

At The Holistic Woman, I bring these pieces together:

🌱 Plant-based nutrition
🧘‍♀️ Yoga & meditation
💪 Pilates & mindful movement
✨ Reiki & energy healing
❤️ Holistic guidance & support

Because you are not just a body to fix.

You are a whole human being to nourish, strengthen, quiet, and heal.

If this season is calling you toward greater health, balance, and connection, I’d love to walk beside you.

🟠 TURMERIC — the inflammation fighter

Turmeric’s star compound, curcumin, has been extensively studied for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

In a randomized clinical trial, a bioavailable curcumin preparation improved clinical and endoscopic measures in people with mild-to-moderate Crohn’s disease. That’s promising!

Even more fascinating: laboratory research shows curcumin can activate apoptosis—programmed cell death—in cancer cells.

🫚 GINGER — nature’s anti-inflammatory

Ginger has been used medicinally for centuries. Its active compounds—including gingerols, shogaols, and zingerone—can influence multiple inflammatory pathways.

Research suggests ginger can help modulate inflammatory signaling and oxidative stress, and clinical studies have found benefits for several inflammatory and pain-related conditions.

🧄 GARLIC — the antimicrobial powerhouse

When garlic is crushed or chopped, it forms allicin, one of its most famous sulfur-containing compounds.

Garlic has demonstrated antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, antioxidant, and immune-modulating activity in research. Garlic’s sulfur compounds are also being studied for cardiovascular health, blood pressure, inflammation, and cancer prevention.

🌿 ROSEMARY — feed your brain

Rosemary contains compounds such as rosmarinic acid and carnosic acid with antioxidant and neuroprotective properties.

And here’s a fascinating brain-health connection:

In a randomized study of 144 healthy adults, simply inhaling the aroma of rosemary essential oil was associated with improved measures of memory compared with the control group.

Other research is exploring rosemary’s potential effects on neurodegeneration and cognitive aging.

🤎 CINNAMON — metabolic support

Cinnamon is rich in polyphenols and has been studied for its potential effects on blood sugar regulation, insulin sensitivity, and cardiovascular health.

🌿 OREGANO — antioxidant powerhouse

Oregano is rich in compounds such as carvacrol and thymol, which have demonstrated antioxidant and antimicrobial activity in laboratory research.

A 12-Hour Walk for Peace
Saturday, September 5 | 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM , Sunrise Park, Indialantic, FL

5:55 am: Blessing and Intention-Setting (if you’d like!)

Dear friends,

I’d love to invite you to join me for a 12-hour Walk for Peace on Saturday, September 5.

This is a simple, grassroots gathering—no sponsors, no fundraising, no agenda. Just a day of walking, being present, and creating space for peace within ourselves.

You can walk with the group, walk quietly on your own, join us for an hour or stay for the entire day. There is no right or wrong way to participate. This walk is for you and about your own connection to peace.

We will begin and end with 2 hours on the beach, and in between we’ll weave through neighborhoods, cross the 192 bridge, and eventually stop for a brief lunch at the pier behind Riverside Baptist Church. Then we will continue onward. You do not have to walk with the group. In fact, if you prefer to walk the entire 12 hours in silence, I will ask the group at the beginning for a show of hands so that we don’t disturb you.

Each hour, we will add five minutes of silence for meditation and reflection. I’ll also introduce a different theme each hour—an invitation to pause, contemplate, and perhaps see something within ourselves a little differently.

And, of course, everything is completely optional. Participate as much or as little as feels meaningful to you.

Please bring your own water, bandaids, sunscreen, and snacks for the day. We’ll make designated stops along the way for the restroom, nourishment, and regrouping.

We often look for the thing that will transform our health, our energy, our lives.

The perfect diet.
The perfect workout.
The perfect routine.

But maybe it’s the small things we do, again and again, that matter most.

Moving.
Eating nourishing food.
Getting outside.
Lifting something heavy.
Resting.
Breathing.
Meditating.

Over time, these practices become part of our natural rhythm.

I was reminded of this over the weekend when I found myself being pulled into a conflict with someone I hold very dear.

I could feel the tension rising—the urge to defend myself, fight back, or become passive-aggressive.

And then, somehow, my years of meditation greeted me.

The tension dissolved.

There was no desire to fight or prove anything.

Just peace.

And love for the other person.

It reminded me that...

The small things quietly prepare us for the big things.

This is why learning and practicing meditation is such an important part of my Aging Gracefully program and retreat—not simply to learn how to be still, but to learn how to meet life differently.

Because true well-being isn’t just about living longer.

It’s about becoming more capable of meeting life with strength, presence, and love. 🌿

08/17/2026

Hi friends,

This Labor Day weekend I’d love for you to join me for a 12-hour walk. Not a race. Not a challenge. Not about how fast or how far we can go.

Just a day to walk, be outside, enjoy good company, and create some space to be quiet and present.

Along the way, we’ll have moments of silence and give ourselves a different theme to reflect on each hour—things like:

• Gratitude
• Forgiveness
• Letting go
• Courage
• Joy
• Connection
• Acceptance
• What we’re ready to leave behind
• What we want to make room for
• Purpose
• Love
• Simply being present

There will be plenty of time for conversation and laughter, too. And we’ll make a few pit stops along the path to rest, refuel, and regroup.

Bring your own pack with water, sunscreen, snacks/food for the day, and anything else you’ll need to be comfortable walking for several hours.

The only real goal is to keep moving and enjoy the moments along the way. We’ll walk at a comfortable pace and support one another. You can join for as little or as long as you’d like.

If the idea of spending a day walking, reflecting, laughing, being quiet, and enjoying the outdoors sounds good to you, come join us. ❤️

No stopwatch. No finish-line pressure.
Just 12 hours, one step at a time.

I hope you’ll come walk with me!

DM to join!
