The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is a national network of more than 250,000 members with affiliate chapters in all 50 states. We work to improve the lives of persons affected by severe mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder or manic depression, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and depressive, anxiety and panic disorders. Our goal is to enable each individual with a me

ntal illness (children, adolescents, or adults) to live the best life possible. Most of us have a relative or friend that has a mental illness, or we are living with one ourselves. We offer mutual support to one another. We educate ourselves and the public, promote better treatment and support services, and advocate for research into the causes and treatment of these illnesses.

Caregivers know that every person living with schizophrenia faces a unique set of daily challenges and treatment experiences. A treatment that helps one person may not be a good fit for another. This is why it is important to learn about all treatment options, including long-acting injectables (LAIs), so that we can all have informed discussions with our healthcare providers about individualized treatment plans.

Hear from Max, a licensed Clinical Social Worker living with schizophrenia, as he discusses his treatment and recovery journey.

Schizophrenia is a complex mental health condition that is widely misunderstood and stigmatized. It’s important that we all hear from people living with the condition as well as their care partners to understand the real story behind the challenges and success of the treatment journey, including how long-acting injectable treatment options may be an appropriate part of comprehensive care. Let’s work together to break stigma!
