People with disabilities have the right to be accompanied by their service animals in areas of public facilities and businesses where members of the public are allowed to go. Understanding those rights—and knowing how businesses should respond—helps prevent confusion and unnecessary barriers.

💙 Fine Motor Skills Can Be Fun!
Puzzles, games, baking, jewelry making, and crafts can all provide opportunities to practice fine motor skills while simply having fun. For people with Down syndrome, challenges with things like muscle tone and joint stability can sometimes make fine motor tasks more difficult—but practice doesn’t have to feel like a chore.
Turning everyday activities into opportunities to build skills is such a great way to make learning meaningful and enjoyable. 🎨🧩🍪

Did you know? There are many activities that not only provide a fun experience but also provide an opportunity to practice and improve fine motor skills. From doing puzzles and playing games to baking with cookie cutters and making jewelry, we use fine motor skills to enjoy a wide range of activities.

Individuals with Down syndrome may have trouble completing fine motor tasks for a number of reasons, including low muscle tone, increased joint laxity, and others. Working on these skills doesn't need to be a bore or a chore! Our occupational therapist, Katie Frank, PhD, OTR/L, compiled a list of a variety of activities that individuals with Down syndrome can do to have fun while also practicing fine motor skills.
