An important update for patients with WellCare:

You may have received a letter saying Kentucky River Medical Center and related clinics would be out of network as of Sept. 15, 2026. We understand that letter was unsettling.

We want to assure you—we are working diligently to reach an agreement with WellCare and remain in network. You can continue to receive care at KRMC and associated clinics as you always have.

For many patients, driving outside of Breathitt County is not ideal for managing a chronic condition, recovering from surgery, or caring for a family member. Keeping care available close to home in our community is our priority.

Keep your appointments as scheduled. If anything changes, you’ll hear it from us directly.

If the Medicare portion of the plan ends on September 15, Medicare patients can change plans during Open Enrollment (October 15 – December 7, 2026); however, the new plan won’t take effect until January 1, 2027. Chapter advisors are available at 606-666-6559 or 606-666-6155 to help you compare plans and recommend the best option for your individual needs.
