For the past several years, opioid overdoses have been one of the leading causes of death in the United States. In both 2022 and 2023, more than 80,000 people have died from overdosing on opioids and its derivatives. One of these derivatives, Krokodil m**h, is an especially dangerous drug that has become increasingly popular, particularly in Eastern European countries.

Sobriety date: November 1, 2014

"My last stay in treatment I found Stepping Stone through a friend and it was the greatest thing that happened in my sobriety. They provided me the necessary tools to use for my recovery, ones I still use to this day and gave me a foundation for my recovery. From the first BHA, to my therapist, to the nurses, to every staff member that treated me better than I was treating myself.

A big game changer was what they offered after treatment. I got set up with an IOP and they offered alumni events that I still attend today. My life is forever changed and owe a big part to Stepping Stone and their staff.

Today, I get to spend time with my family, watching my kids play soccer on the weekend, doing fun activities and traveling with my friends in recovery. I actually have money to go do things I've never done before!!"

Starting tomorrow, patients at Stepping Stone Center for Recovery will be given the opportunity to participate in a trauma-informed yoga class taught twice weekly with a local instructor with Yoga 4 Change.

Trauma takes a heavy toll on the body and the brain and trauma-informed yoga helps patients learn to calm their minds, recognize and tolerate physical sensations, and ultimately regain a feeling of safety inside their bodies.
