After a stroke took away his independence, 77-year-old Norman Cyrus came to Ochsner Rehabilitation Hospital determined to care for himself again. The stroke affected his mobility, self-care and awareness, making everyday tasks challenging. Through inpatient rehabilitation, Norman worked with a multidisciplinary team to relearn how to move safely, manage daily activities and navigate his environment. Today, Norman is continuing therapy with renewed confidence and looking forward to socializing again.

CNAs are at the heart of patient care and recovery.

Working alongside nursing and therapy teams, nursing assistants and patient care technicians play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their healing and recovery. They take vital signs, respond to call lights, observe and report on changes or progress and assist with patients’ personal care needs.

Above all, they encourage and guide patients with compassion, helping them stay motivated to achieve their recovery goals.
