πŸ’œ Thank You πŸ’œ

My heart is so full after last night's first Riverstage event for Mindful Connections Journey.

I want to thank everyone who stopped by our booth, shared a conversation, picked up resources, supported our mission, or simply took a moment to learn more about what we do.

Every smile, kind word, and connection reminded me why this journey began. What started as a dream to honor the memories of Michael and Corey continues to grow into something that brings people together and reminds others that they are not alone.

Community matters. Connection matters. And tonight was a beautiful reminder of both.

Thank you to the organizers, fellow vendors, and everyone who came out to enjoy the evening. I am incredibly grateful for the support and encouragement.

Here's to continuing to build a community where people feel seen, heard, and supported. πŸ’œ

Every year when Pride Month comes around, I find myself thinking about my friend Corey.

Corey was the kind of person who could light up a room without even trying. He had the biggest heart, the warmest hugs, and a way of making people feel seen, accepted, and valued exactly as they were. When he smiled, you couldn’t help but smile too.

In 2016, we lost Corey to su***de.

Not a day goes by that I don’t wish he was still here sharing his laughter, his kindness, and his authentic self with the world.

Pride Month is often about celebration, but for me, it’s also about remembrance. It’s about honoring someone who taught me the importance of being yourself unapologetically. It’s about recognizing that every person deserves to feel safe, loved, accepted, and supported.

If there’s one thing I hope people take away from Corey’s story, it’s this:

You never truly know what someone is carrying behind their smile.

A kind word matters.
A conversation matters.
Checking in matters.
You matter.

This month, I’m celebrating the beautiful lives, stories, and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community while also remembering a friend whose life continues to inspire the work I do today.

Corey, your light still shines. πŸ’œπŸŒˆ

🧠 Men's Mental Health Awareness Month πŸ’™

June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, and this month means more to me than many people realize.

In April 2012, I lost my cousin Michael to su***de.

Michael was the oldest cousin on my dad's side of the family, and I was the youngest. Growing up, he always knew how to make people laugh. He was the cousin who pulled pranks, teased everyone, and filled family gatherings with laughter. Looking back, those memories are some of the ones I cherish most.

His loss changed my life forever.

One of the hardest lessons I learned is that struggles are not always visible. Sometimes the people who seem the strongest, funniest, or happiest are carrying battles that nobody else can see.

This Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, I want every man reading this to know:

πŸ’™ It's okay to not be okay.
πŸ’™ It's okay to ask for help.
πŸ’™ It's okay to talk about your feelings.
πŸ’™ Your struggles do not make you weak.
πŸ’™ Your life matters.

If sharing Michael's story helps even one person reach out, speak up, or stay one more day, then his memory continues to make a difference.

In memory of Michael.
For the men who are struggling silently.
For the fathers, sons, brothers, husbands, friends, and cousins who need to hear it:

You are not alone.
You are loved.
And your story is not over. πŸ’™

🌈 Happy Pride Month 🌈

Pride Month holds a special place in my heart.

One of the people who inspired me to start speaking openly about mental health and su***de prevention was my friend Corey. Corey was a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and he brought so much light, kindness, and authenticity into the lives of everyone around him. His smile was contagious, his hugs could make even the hardest days feel a little lighter, and he had a way of making people feel seen and accepted.

After losing Corey to su***de, I made a promise to myself that I would continue creating spaces where people feel safe, supported, and valued for exactly who they are.

This month, I celebrate the strength, resilience, and beauty of the LGBTQ+ community. I also remember the friends we've lost, the stories that continue to matter, and the importance of reminding one another that we are never alone.

In honor of Corey and so many others, may we continue building a world where everyone feels accepted, loved, and safe to be themselves.

You belong here.
You are valued.
You are loved.
And your story matters. πŸŒˆπŸ’œ
