Your lawn might just be starting to turn green, but a lot more is happening than you might think.

Right now across Kansas City, lawns are waking up from winter dormancy. Grass roots are growing, soil activity is increasing, and the conditions that shape how your lawn performs this summer are already starting to take place.

May is National Flower Month, and around Kansas City you can really see it in the trees.

A few of the flowering trees we see putting on a show across the metro this time of year:

- Eastern Redbud
- Flowering Dogwood
- Flowering Crabapple
- Saucer Magnolia
- Serviceberry

Besides adding color to neighborhoods, strong spring blooms are often a good sign a tree is healthy and thriving.

Which one are you seeing the most around your neighborhood right now?

Spring Tree Check

As trees leaf out across Kansas City neighborhoods, this is when homeowners start spotting branches that didn’t make it through winter.

Dead limbs or damaged branches are much easier to see once the canopy fills in.

Spring is a good time for a quick tree check around the yard. Give us a holler if yo uneed a hand.

Take a minute and thank your trees today.

They work pretty hard for your yard - providing shade in the summer, adding beauty to the neighborhood, helping cool your property, and standing strong through Kansas City storms year after year.

A healthy tree does a lot more than most people realize.

Happy Arbor Day from the Tree Doctor team at Martz Bros.

Stay ahead of the bagworms this spring.
Bagworm larvae typically start hatching in late May–June, but spring is when homeowners start noticing last year’s bags still hanging in trees, especially:

• arborvitae
• juniper
• spruce

Now is a great time to remove those old bags before they hatch and reduce the chance of a larger infestation later in the season.

If you’re noticing bagworms or have concerns about the health of your trees, the Martz Bros Tree Doctor team is always happy to take a look.

One of the things that makes Kansas City neighborhoods so beautiful this time of year is the tree canopy.

As those trees fill back in each spring, it’s also a good time to take a closer look at their health and structure.

We put together a short blog on a few signs homeowners should watch for as trees leaf out across the metro.

Spring isn’t just lawn season - it’s tree season too.

As trees start leafing out across Kansas City, this is the time of year when stress, disease, or winter damage often becomes visible.

If something looks off, early attention can make a big difference in the long-term health of the tree.
