The Hearing Aid Project (HAP), a program of Sertoma International, is a national nonprofit initiative dedicated to providing free hearing aids to qualifying low-income individuals who cannot otherwise afford them. Driven by the missions of organizations like Sertoma and Hearing Charities of America, and through the generosity of so many others, hearing aids are now available to those who might otherwise go without.

Living with lifelong sensorineural hearing loss, South Carolina basketball star Ayla McDowell has relied on lip-reading and visual cues to help navigate conversations and everyday life. With encouragement from head coach Dawn Staley, she took an important step toward addressing her hearing loss and exploring how hearing aids could help her.

What if purchasing hearing aids came with a little less financial burden? Huntsville, Alabama, is taking action to address the cost of hearing care!

In late September, the council approved the tax exemption, which is scheduled to take effect September 1, 2027, and remain in place through October 31, 2029.

We joined the Overland Park Lions Club and other organizations in the metro area for the Overland Park Recycling Extravaganza over the weekend. HAP Director Brian Riegel was on hand alongside our Lions peers collecting hearing aids and glasses to serve clients in the Kansas City area and beyond!
