Hello! My name is Kasey, I am originally from Arizona but moved to my forever home in Missoula, Montana in 2022. I love the Montana mountains and hiking, camping, and hunting in them. If I'm not in the mountains, I can usually be found with my nose in a book, gardening, or spending time with family and friends. I absolutely love music, and the beautiful concert venues in Montana make each and every concert more incredible. In my spare time I also go to the local animal shelter and desensitize the animals to better help them find their forever homes!

I have worked the past few years as a Certified Medical Assistant, my most recent specialty being working in a Psychiatric outpatient clinic. I have always known I wanted to help others live happy and healthy lives that they can be proud of and I have worked in many different aspects to complete this goal.

I am currently a social work student at the Salish Kootenai College, where I also have finished an Associates in Chemical Dependency Counseling. All this work has been to serve the people of my community, to ensure that Montanians get adequate care that is both affordable and attainable.

In my previous roles I have done much advocacy for patient safety, quality of care, and care that makes a meaningful difference to those who need it. I am very excited to join StepOne Service in providing the community I know and love a resource that can make a world of a difference.

Huge shoutout to Shannen at Community Medical Center for this incredible expression of passion we received via a Patient Experience Survey.

When someone reaches out for help, it's not always clear cut. These calls can come with transportation barriers, timing their withdrawal symptoms correctly so they're not uncomfortable, and ensuring that the person can just focus on their sobriety and not all of the logistics.

Our team works incredibly hard to ensure people seeking help have a seamless process.

Service Coordinator | StepOne Service™

The Service Coordinator is the face of StepOne Service™ in the community—building meaningful relationships, increasing awareness of the service, and helping connect individuals experiencing alcohol or opioid withdrawal with compassionate hospital-based care.

What You’ll Do

🤝 Build meaningful community relationships: with treatment providers, recovery organizations, healthcare professionals, behavioral health agencies, first responders, courts, social service organizations, and other community partners.

🌎 Get out into the community: This is not a sit-behind-a-desk role. You’ll attend community events, coalition meetings, networking opportunities, educational presentations, and agency visits throughout your territory.

❤️ Help create access to care: Educate community partners about StepOne Service™ and help them understand when and how individuals can access hospital-based acute withdrawal management services.

🏥 Serve as the connection: between the hospital and the community, ensuring local organizations understand the StepOne program, admission process, and populations we can serve.

📣 Be a passionate ambassador for StepOne Service™: clearly communicating our mission and helping reduce barriers and stigma surrounding substance use and withdrawal care.

📈 Grow program utilization: by developing strong, sustainable relationships with organizations serving individuals who may benefit from StepOne.

🧭 Own and develop your territory: Identify opportunities, prioritize high-impact organizations, develop outreach strategies, and continuously learn what your community needs.

🎤 Educate and present: Provide presentations, trainings, and program education to community organizations and professional groups.

🎪 Represent StepOne at community events: resource fairs, conferences, recovery events, coalition meetings, and other opportunities where meaningful connections can be made.

💡 Think creatively: Develop new ways to increase awareness, strengthen partnerships, and make StepOne a trusted resource within the community.

📊 Use data to guide outreach: Track relationship development, community activity, utilization trends, and opportunities to ensure your time in the field is making an impact.

🤝 Collaborate closely with hospital and StepOne leadership: sharing community feedback, identifying barriers to care, and helping develop solutions.

🌱 Become a trusted community resource—not simply a marketer: The strongest Service Coordinators are known in their communities as people who connect, educate, collaborate, and genuinely want to help.

Who Thrives in This Role?

Someone who is energetic, compassionate, self-motivated, organized, comfortable talking to anyone, and excited to spend their days building relationships rather than sitting behind a computer. You should also have experience working with individuals impacted by Substance Use Disorder, as you will cover Care Coordinator responsibilities when/if the individual in the role is absent.
