CDD is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides housing, residential care, day habilitation and Personal Care Assistance programs 365 days per year to adults with developmental disabilities.

💙 Celebrating the Employers Who Make Inclusion Possible! 💼

As we continue celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), members of our Employment Connections program had the opportunity to visit some of their workplaces and present certificates of appreciation to employers who support employees with disabilities.

We are grateful for the businesses and organizations that recognize the talents, skills, and contributions people with disabilities bring to the workplace every day.

A big thank you to maurices, Burlington 1872 and 1882, Target, Panera Bread, Goodwill Industries International Liberty, Corporate Cleaning Group LLC, Center Middle School, Thrift World, KC Pet Project, and University Health Lakewood for supporting inclusive employment in our community!

Inclusive workplaces create opportunities, build independence, and strengthen our entire community. Thank you for being part of it! 💙

🎃 Getting creative at PALS U!

Our PALS U participants had a great time showing off their creativity with a pumpkin decorating contest! From spooky to pretty to completely unique, each pumpkin had its own personality.

It was so much fun seeing everyone’s ideas come to life and celebrating all of the creative entries. 🎃✨

🏈🏈September was lit! We crashed the Chiefs Home Opener party and lived to tell the tale! 🎉

🎤 The Center for Developmentally Disabled Kicked Off Chiefs Season...because who doesn't love a good football party?! 😂 Our staff and friends rocked their red and gold gear for a Pep Rally extravaganza! The Linden Group brought the beats and we brought the Chiefs spirit! 💃 It's who we are...and we're not apologizing for our football fandom! 😜

🐮🐐🦬 A fun-filled day at Cowabunga Camp!

Our Rainbow School students recently had the opportunity to visit Cowabunga Camp, and they had the BEST time! 💙

From meeting fluffy cows and friendly goats to getting up close with a baby buffalo, there were plenty of smiles, laughs, and unforgettable moments throughout the day.

We love giving our students opportunities to learn, explore, and experience new things in the community!

💙🔎 Our NDEAM Scavenger Hunt teams have been busy learning, exploring, and putting their creativity to work!

From building resumes and preparing for interviews to learning about workplace accommodations and community resources, each challenge is helping our teams think about what meaningful, inclusive employment looks like.

A big shoutout to Our Name Is Mudd, Training Terrors, Sammi Employment Group, and The Chillicothe Team for joining in the fun! 👏

We can’t wait to see what challenges they tackle next!

♿ Sometimes the right accommodation can make all the difference.

As part of our NDEAM Scavenger Hunt, teams were challenged to identify accommodations that can help employees be successful in the workplace.

Their ideas included accessible workstations, adjusted lighting, Braille, standing desks, anti-fatigue mats, assistive technology, and other modifications designed around an employee’s individual needs.

Workplace accommodations aren’t about lowering expectations—they’re about making sure employees have the tools and access they need to do their jobs successfully. 💙

That’s inclusion in action!
