☀️ This summer, let the beach belong to every kind of skin, because vitiligo isn't a flaw or a thing to hide, and awareness starts the moment we stop looking away.

Vitiligo happens when the skin loses melanin in certain areas, leaving lighter patches. It isn't contagious, it isn't harmful, and it isn't anything to cover up at the shore.

It's Melanoma Monday and this one is important.

Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer, but here is the part that actually matters: when it is caught early, the survival rate is 99%. That number drops to 35% once it spreads. Early detection is not just a buzzword, it is the difference.

Know your ABCDEs. If anything on your skin looks asymmetrical, has uneven borders, multiple colors, is larger than a pencil eraser, or has been changing, that is your sign to get checked. Melanoma can show up on any skin tone, any age, and anywhere on the body including places that never see the sun.

We are so overwhelmed with gratitude after our ribbon cutting celebration on April 9 🐚 🌊

The Islamorada Chamber of Commerce, village officials, neighbors, patients, and friends all showed up and the love in that room was something we will never forget. The Florida Keys is not just a place we work. It is a community that has truly welcomed us with open arms and we do not take that lightly.

At the heart of our Islamorada practice is the incredible DeeDee Vazquez, PA-C. With over 13 years of dermatology experience, she has built real relationships with patients here and shows up for this community every single day. We are so lucky to have her.
