🍂 **A Look at the Past Week at Northern Lights!** 🎃

Just a few pictures from the past week or so! ❤️

🏈 **Homecoming Fun!** Homecoming in Kirksville brought us to Casey’s for a free Frosty, where our individuals also got the chance to meet *the Icon!* What a fun way to celebrate!

🎩 **Mad Hatter Day!** We put our hat-making skills to the test with some fun arts and crafts! These projects are about more than just creativity. They help build fine motor skills, gross motor skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving—all while learning in a fun and engaging environment.

🥫 **Giving Back to Our Community!** Our weekly trip to the Adair County PAC Pantry is always a favorite. Our individuals enjoy volunteering, helping others, and giving back to the community they are proud to be a part of. 💙

👻 **Halloween Shopping!** Of course, we had to explore some local stores and check out the Halloween outfits! We love getting out into the community, making choices, and enjoying new experiences together.

At Northern Lights, every outing and activity is an opportunity to learn, grow, build skills, and make memories! 🌟

📣 WE’RE HIRING! 📣

If anyone is looking for a job, we have some openings! 😊

Our Day Program is looking for educational advocates , and Braun is also looking for a Supported Employment Supervisor!

Honestly, it’s a pretty amazing place to work, and the days can be a lot of fun—even when our agenda is packed! ❤️

What are we looking for?
✅ Someone who can multitask
✅ Someone who can work in a busy, fast-paced environment
✅ Someone who can make appropriate decisions
✅ Someone dependable who shows up on time and ready to work every day

Now for the best part! 🥰

Imagine getting paid to put smiles on people’s faces simply by including them, thinking of them, and helping them feel valued.

We get to go on outings and participate in all kinds of fun activities in the community and right in our building! From museum trips and picnics to Christmas parties, community outings, and opportunities to learn and grow alongside the individuals we support, there’s always something happening!

Yes, our days can be busy, nonstop, and full of things to do—but we also get to make meaningful connections, create memories, have fun, and make a difference in people’s lives every single day. ❤️

If you enjoy working with people, can handle a busy day, and want a job where your work truly matters, this could be a great opportunity for you!

📩 Interested? Reach out to me for more information! Feel free to share this post with anyone who might be looking for a job! 😊

Last one for the night!

These are some of the actives we did this past week.

Of course we had to pay it forward and get ourselves to PAC food pantry to volunteer. Our individuals love our Wednesday and love helping where we are needed!

Some decided that today was salon day. We painted our nails and made a good list of supplies we need for the salon,

Due to the rain today we had to cancel our walk downtown and the Art center. Instead we played money math game, we played our newest game which requires not only our concentration but our fine motor skills.

After games we all worked on crafts. Again we all chose which craft we wanted to work on

We also started making plans for our trunk and treat……

Yes you heard that correctly we will have our second ever trunk or treat!!!! Details to come early next week!

As promised here is post two. While we did not get a ton of pictures because we were to busy talking, joking, and building friendships

I started a little tradition on each of our Saturday trips. Saturday.was no different. It is a must that we stop somewhere for custard or frozen yogurt, ya know just a tiny little sweet treat

We stopped in at TCBY for a little sweet treat in Quincy. They were so nice to us all and very patient.when in that area again we will stop

Oh boy what a couple of weeks we have had! I am so sorry for the delay in loading pictures. But buckle up because our page is going to be flooded!

First set of pictures are from Scottie’s fun spot arcade which as you can see we LOVE arcades.
You can see the smiles on all these faces and think “Oh they had so much fun” while yes that is true but we also ordered our own food, stayed within budget, paid with our own money and counted our own change.

Most of what we do every single day in the program is an opportunity to learn, grow and be independent. For some we struggle with talking to people we don’t know, some of us lose our words or forget what we said we wanted and some of us are working on our social and money skills..

I am super proud to say that every single one of them accomplished just that. They choose their own meal and stayed with in budget, some with a little help with adding things up, we paid for our self and we counted our. Change.

So yes these long trips on Saturday’s are a ton of fun and we are lucky enough to get to tag along but every trip planned every arts and craft project every lesson and every board game played is done so in a very planed and intentional manor;we learn with out even knowing we are being taught!

Enjoy the smiles because those of us lucky enough to work with our people sure do!
