🩷 LET’S TALK TMD 🧡

Your TMJ (temporomandibular joint) connects your jaw to your skull. TMD is the term for disorders affecting this joint, the surrounding muscles, and sometimes the small articular disc inside the joint.

TMD can show up as jaw pain or tightness, clicking or popping, difficulty opening the mouth, facial pain, headaches, or discomfort related to clenching and grinding.

🌸 How can massage therapy help?
TMJ-focused massage addresses the muscles of the jaw, face, neck, and shoulders that may contribute to tension and discomfort. I use both extraoral techniques (outside the mouth) and intraoral techniques (inside the mouth) to safely access deeper jaw muscles that can be difficult to reach externally.

Massage can't correct every cause of TMD,especially structural joint or disc problems,but it may reduce muscular tension and pain, improve comfortable jaw movement, and help calm overworked muscles associated with clenching and grinding. 🧡

🩷🌿As a massage therapist, there's no greater compliment than being trusted with someone's care..especially by another healthcare provider. To not only help relieve their own pain, but to also earn the trust to care for their patients, is something I don't take lightly. I'm incredibly grateful for the confidence they have in my work, and it's an honor to be part of a collaborative approach to helping people feel their best.

TMJ dysfunction can affect so much more than your jaw. It can contribute to headaches, facial pain, neck tension, ear discomfort, clicking, clenching, and difficulty opening or closing your mouth. My TMJ sessions combine extraoral and intraoral techniques (when appropriate) to help reduce muscle tension, improve mobility, and support healthier jaw function.

✨ I spent this week in Nashville continuing my education and became certified in Intraoral TMJ Massage Therapy! 🤍

Your TMJ (temporomandibular joint) is the joint that allows you to open, close, and move your jaw. When the muscles around it become tight or irritated, it can contribute to jaw pain, headaches, clicking or popping, neck tension, ear pain, and difficulty opening your mouth comfortably and the list goes on..

Intraoral TMJ massage is a specialized technique that works with the muscles inside and outside the mouth to help reduce muscle tension, improve jaw mobility, and support more comfortable movement.
