When the body is dehydrated, electrolytes like magnesium and potassium can drop, which may make the heart’s electrical system more sensitive and prone to extra beats.

Stimulants such as caffeine, ni****ne, and some decongestants can also trigger palpitations. Some women notice an increase in PVCs during and after menopause due to hormonal shifts. ☕️

High adrenaline from stress or anxiety can be another common trigger.

If you’re feeling skipped beats or fluttering more often, it may help to look for patterns and discuss them with a healthcare provider if needed. ❤️

If you live in Lake County, you know how the Florida heat can take a toll on your body.

Dehydration is actually one of the leading triggers for PVCs (Premature Ventricular Contractions).

When your electrolytes—like magnesium and potassium—get out of balance, your heart’s electrical system can become “irritable,” leading to those annoying skipped-beat sensations.

One of the most common reasons patients visit our office is the sensation of a "skipped heartbeat."

You might feel a sudden flip-flop in your chest, a forceful thump, or a brief pause that catches your breath. In most cases, what you are feeling is a PVC, or Premature Ventricular Contraction.

Despite the name, your heart isn't actually skipping a beat. Click here to see Dr. Adrover break it down: https://www.tc-heart.com/what-are-pvcs/

Wondering how to take your heart health into your own hands? 🩷

A big part of keeping your heart strong comes down to what you fuel your body with—giving it the nutrients it needs to keep everything pumping smoothly.

But it’s not just about diet. Staying proactive with your heart health means checking in with a specialist, too. A visit to a cardiologist can help detect any concerns early and give you peace of mind.

Ready to take the next step? Call 352-504-3500 or visit https://www.tc-heart.com/contact-us/ to schedule your appointment today.

Today, instead of addressing the noise, we want to celebrate.

HIPAA keeps us silent on social media. We can't respond to comments about specific situations, even when we'd like nothing more than to share the full picture. So when our patients step in with truth and good faith on our behalf we notice, and we are grateful.
This isn't the first time it's happened, and it probably won't be the last. Every time it does, we're reminded how fortunate we are to serve a community that pays attention, asks fair questions, and isn't afraid to speak honestly.

We're not perfect. We have things to improve, and we work on them. If you ever have a concern, please call 352-504-3500, option 7 (Administration). We want to hear it directly, and we want the chance to make it right.
We're proud to remain independent answerable to our patients, not to a hospital, a private equity firm, or an insurance company. That independence is something our patients help us protect every day.
To everyone who has spoken up for us when we couldn't: thank you. We see you, and we don't take it for granted.
With gratitude,
The Management Team
