Recently, Evonik Tippecanoe Labs celebrated a special moment as one of our team members, Josh Gramelspacher, received the Patriotic Employer Award from the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Josh was nominated by Keith Taylor, a member of E-VET (Evonik Veterans) and former participant in the New Operator Training School Program, which Josh managed. During Keith’s nine-month deployment, Josh maintained regular communication, offering care packages tailored to Keith’s needs and providing consistent support.

This recognition highlights the importance of supporting our colleagues in the military community. At Evonik Tippecanoe Labs, we are committed to fostering a culture that supports veterans and active service members, exemplified by programs like E-VET.

Strength in Community: Evonik Tippecanoe Labs Fire Department Steps Up in a Time of Need

Earlier this year, the Tippecanoe Labs Fire Department assisted one of our own during a time of great need. Wayne Zink, a longtime Tippecanoe Labs employee and former member of our fire department, experienced a devastating house fire at his parents’ home, located just eight miles from our site.

When mutual aid was requested, the Tippecanoe Labs Fire Department responded by providing over 62,000 gallons of water to help extinguish the blaze. Firefighters from ten area departments worked together tirelessly to bring the fire under control, showcasing the strength of collaboration and community in the face of adversity.

Wayne’s family thankfully escaped the fire unharmed, and while the loss of their home was heartbreaking, the efforts of the firefighting teams brought moments of relief, including the recovery of a cherished family heirloom.

“The care and community we share here at Tippecanoe Labs has never been more evident to me,” Wayne reflected. “I want to sincerely thank everyone who supported us, including the Tippecanoe Labs Fire Department. Their actions, along with the encouragement of my colleagues, made a world of difference. Tippe is more than just a workplace; it’s a community that stands by its people in times of need.”

🎉 Career Day Highlights at Seeger Junior/Senior High School! 🎓

On March 5th, Seeger Junior/Senior High School hosted a Career Day for students in grades 7-12. Held in the Patriot Activity Center (PAC) from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, this marked the fourth consecutive year of the event. With a student population of 620, it was a great opportunity for students to explore their futures!

We were proud to join 40 sponsors in providing valuable career insights and inspiration to the next generation of professionals.

On the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we celebrated this year's theme: “From Vision to Impact: Redefining STEM by Closing the Gender Gap.”

At Tippecanoe Laboratories, we are dedicated to fostering innovation and empowering women leaders in STEM. McKenzie Temme, Process Safety Engineering Manager at Tippecanoe Labs, recently mentored Juliet Freed, a Purdue University College of Engineering graduate student during her Evonik capstone project for the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering Professional Master's Program. This unique collaboration between industry and academia enables students to tackle real-world challenges, preparing them for successful careers by blending technical expertise with leadership and business skills.

“Mentoring and supporting emerging talents like Juliet has been incredibly rewarding,” says McKenzie. “Let’s continue building inclusive futures for women and girls in STEM!”
