MUTUAL AID IS PRIDE

Pride Month reminds us that communities survive by helping each other.

Mutual aid can look like:
✨ Sharing resources
✨ Offering rides
✨ Providing meals
✨ Supporting LGBTQ+ youth
✨ Carrying Narcan
✨ Creating safe spaces
✨ Listening without judgment

Small acts of care create stronger communities.

Kindness is our rebellion.

PRIDE IS COMMUNITY CARE

Kindness should never come with conditions.

This Pride Month, Kind Kern celebrates every person helping build a safer, kinder, more inclusive community right here in Kern County.

We believe everyone deserves: 🖤 Dignity
🖤 Safety
🖤 Support
🖤 Respect
🖤 Belonging

Pride started as a movement rooted in resistance, mutual aid, and protecting one another, and that spirit still matters today.

Community means showing up for each other exactly as we are.

Come as you are.
You belong here.

🖤 MAY IS NATIONAL FOSTER YOUTH MONTH 🖤

Every young person deserves safety.

Every young person deserves stability.

Every young person deserves to feel wanted, supported, and seen.

Foster youth often carry experiences of trauma, loss, instability, displacement, and isolation, but community support can change outcomes.

Prevention matters.

Prevention looks like:
• Supporting families before crisis happens
• Access to mental healthcare
• Housing stability
• Food security
• Safe adults and mentors
• Trauma-informed care
• Community programs
• Recovery support for parents and caregivers
• Schools and communities that show compassion instead of punishment

When communities invest in prevention, fewer youth fall through the cracks.

At Kind Kern, we believe every young person deserves:
🖤 Safety
🖤 Belonging
🖤 Support
🖤 Opportunity
🖤 A future filled with hope

This month, take time to:
✨ Support foster youth organizations
✨ Learn about trauma-informed care
✨ Advocate for youth mental health resources
✨ Become a mentor, volunteer, or safe adult
✨ Speak up for systems rooted in compassion and prevention

Strong communities protect young people.

MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

Check in. Speak up. Show up.

Mental health affects every family, every friend group, every community, and nobody should have to struggle alone.

At Kind Kern, we believe: 🖤 Community care matters
🖤 Asking for help is strength
🖤 Kindness can save lives
🖤 Healing happens together

Sometimes support looks like:
• Sending the text
• Sitting with someone in silence
• Bringing food
• Listening without judgment
• Sharing resources
• Saying “I’m here” and meaning it

Your mind matters.
Your kindness counts.

If you or someone you know is struggling: 📞 Call or text 988 for support anytime.

Let’s build a community where people feel seen, supported, and safe enough to reach out.
