What happens when you bring veteran mental health providers out of their individual silos and give them the opportunity to truly connect?

A little bit of magic. 💛

That was exactly what we hoped to create with Together We Serve, Get Support Together's two-day veteran mental health networking experience.

And one of the organizations that helped make those two days so special was Grace After Fire.

Grace After Fire is dedicated to supporting women Veterans through the transition out of military service—and through all the seasons of life that come afterward. They help women navigate resources while also creating opportunities for connection through retreats, support groups, trainings, peer support, and more.

During Together We Serve, we didn't just sit in a conference room exchanging business cards.

We went into the community.

We learned about each other's programs. We experienced the spaces available to Veterans. We shared ideas. We asked questions. And, most importantly, we started building relationships.

Because a resource becomes so much more powerful when the person making the referral can say:

"I know someone who can help."

I'd love if anyone reading this post takes a pause and thinks about a moment they were involved in something good. Something really good that doesn't benefit you, but does something that changes someone else's life.

Monday & Tuesday we hosted a "Together We Serve Veteran Mental Health Networking Experience" with eleven mental health professionals serving veterans with three powerful central Texas veteran support resources.

Monday night I connected these amazing organizations and people - Fireside Chat Support Network and Warriors Heart. This morning they are changing the future of a Veteran.

My chest has been beating. The tears have held in my eyes. The Get Support Together Foundation is doing something incredibly powerful for mental health, and I finally saw it today.

FRIENDS WE NEED YOUR HELP TO HELP AN ARMY RANGER!! Please LIKE AND SHARE OUR POST!!

We are helping a 100% disabled combat Army Ranger and firefighter and his family who are in extreme crisis. Dad is checking in this week to Warriors Heart inpatient treatment facility for Chemical Dependency and PTSD in Bandera for 42 days starting Thursday August 27.

Things leading up to him asking for help have put his family in a financial bind. They're overdrawn by $2,000 in the bank account, down a vehicle, in need of groceries, and their AC is out and needs to be replaced. And he needs $350 dollars for his commissary account at Warrior's Heart.

We are asking our friends to make a tax deductible donation to www.FiresideChatSupportNetwork.org and write ARMY RANGER in notes

to help this family get back on their feet while Dad gets treatment. These friends are not in our immediate area, but have visited with us at 12 Fox Beer Co. and know of our mission to help Veterans and First Reponders in crisis.

Monday we will begin a remarkable two day experience with a group of mental health professionals who support veterans.

Monday evening we’ll be touring this incredible project and supporting the Fireside Chat Support Network’s mission towards supporting veterans to meet them where they are.

I’m excited by this holistic, non-invasive, peaceful, and harmonious way to support those with PTSD and other mental health concerns.

🐾 Sometimes mental health support comes on four paws.

For individuals living with PTSD, severe anxiety, trauma, and other mental health challenges, a trained service dog can provide is far more than standard domestic companionship.

At Get Support Together, we believe mental health support is never one-size-fits-all. Service dog organizations are an important part of the broader network of resources that can help people find stability, connection, and a path forward.

We’re grateful for CIT International for putting on this incredible conference and to Tri-State K-9 Crisis Response Team and Charlie Mike for having these fabulous K-9 around this week! 🐾

The learning, exploring, and introduction of Get Support Together has started at the Crisis Intervention Team International Conference in Orlando!

Joined by board member , who lends her over 20 years in crisis intervention experience, we hope to learn from law enforcement and boots on the ground mental health professionals what we can do with this platform to serve their needs after in home mental health threats to events of mass casualty.

In planning to provide a single-source for all levels of mental health support ready to launch later this fall, the goal is to sign up lots of mental health professionals and build a stronger network of advocates for mental health access reform.

None of us expects to become experts at navigating the mental health system.

When my family experienced a mental health crisis, I quickly learned how difficult it can be to find the right support—even when incredible resources already exist.

That journey inspired the creation of Get Support Together.

I’m incredibly grateful to the Sandal Blue Foundationfor sharing my story and helping spread awareness about why we’re building a mental health ecosystem that makes it easier for individuals and families to find providers, treatment programs, support groups, crisis resources, and community services that fit their unique needs.

If my story encourages even one family to keep searching for hope—or inspires one provider to become part of this growing movement—it was worth sharing.
