After surviving a hit-and-run that left her with five surgeries and months in St. Anthony Hospital, Tina Benner returned years later - not as a patient, but as a volunteer in the hospital’s Peer Visitor Program, supporting others just beginning their healing journey.

Tina connects with patients in a way that only someone who has walked in their shoes can, offering hope, encouragement, and the reminder that recovery is possible.

From relearning to walk to running a half-marathon a decade later, Tina has transformed her own trauma into a powerful source of connection. Programs like St. Anthony’s Life After Trauma support group ensure survivors aren’t alone, and volunteers like Tina prove that helping others can be healing too.

The DAISY Award is among the highest honors given to nurses for being exceptional and providing the highest quality of care and compassion to our patients.

Thomas, RN, was nominated by a patient’s family for his compassion and exceptional care during a very difficult time. His attentiveness and humankindness in the ICU truly made a profound difference to the patient and family.

We’re grateful for Thomas and the remarkable heart he brings to every patient he serves.
