There are many reasons why we started The Mitten Foundation. This family is one of them.

We had the privilege of caring for sweet Kobe, and during that time we watched Christopher fill the home with life and laughter. We were there as his disease progressed and, ultimately, as he passed away. We were also honored to support the Williams family through the heartbreaking loss of their oldest child, Mindy.

Connie and Ross Williams fought fiercely for each of their children with extraordinary love, courage, and unwavering devotion.

Their journey reminds us why our mission matters. Our goal is simple but powerful: no parent should ever have to face the journey of caring for a child with a life-limiting illness—or saying goodbye to that child—alone. ❤️

I'm changing the focus of this page a little. It's going to contain posts to honor the memories of our children Kobe, forever (fe)23; Mindy fe30, and Christopher fe14. Each one left a legacy of accomplishments and love. We will continue to have posts about child abuse and its prevention.

Today, The Mitten Foundation traveled to South Bend to visit A Rosie Place.

There is something truly special about connecting with people who share your passion, purpose, and heart for serving children and families. The chaos, energy, ideas, and love in the room were absolutely electrifying.

We left inspired, encouraged, and even more committed to our mission of bringing compassionate pediatric palliative and hospice support to Michigan’s children and families.

Thank you to everyone at A Rosie Place for welcoming us and sharing your incredible work. Together, we are reminded that when mission-driven people come together, amazing things happen. ❤️

We are thrilled to welcome Julee Burgess as the Executive Director of Operations and Philanthropy for The Mitten Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation.

Julee brings nearly two decades of leadership experience from Michigan State Athletics, where she served in several key roles, most recently as Executive Senior Associate AD for Sport Administration. A proud Spartan, Julee has dedicated her career to building strong teams, fostering meaningful relationships, and creating lasting impact.

Her passion for service, leadership, and community makes her a perfect fit for The Mitten Foundation’s mission to support Michigan children and families facing serious illness.
