Congratulations to our DAISY Award Recipient, Santos “Sunny” Garcia III, RN! 🌼

We are proud to recognize Sunny, RN, from Emergency Room Wright Ranch, a Service of Doctors Hospital of Laredo, as our latest DAISY Award recipient for extraordinary nursing care and compassion.

Sunny was nominated by a grateful mother whose son arrived in the ER frightened and anxious after a wrist injury. Through his kindness, patience and genuine connection, Sunny transformed what could have been a stressful experience into one of comfort, confidence and reassurance. By taking the time to connect with her son, discuss his interests and carefully explain every step of his care, Sunny helped ease his fears and created an experience their family will never forget.

One of the most touching moments from the nomination came after the visit, when the young patient told his mother:

“Mom, I wish ALL nurses could be just like Sunny. If I need to see a doctor, PLEASE bring me here where Sunny is at.”

These words reflect the lasting impact nurses have on the lives of their patients and families. Sunny’s compassion turned a frightening experience into one filled with trust, comfort and healing.

⭐ This recognition is especially meaningful as Santos “Sunny” Garcia III becomes the first DAISY Award recipient from any of Doctors Hospital of Laredo’s three freestanding emergency departments—a historic milestone that reflects the exceptional care provided across our FEDs every day.
