Fireworks can be stressful and frightening for many pets.
If your pet experiences anxiety with fireworks, now is the time to plan ahead.

Contact us as soon as possible to discuss anxiety medications or management options. If your pet has already been prescribed medication for anxiety previously, please contact us now for refills!

Tomorrow is the first day of summer!☀️🌴

As temperatures rise, our pets are at serious risk of heat stroke.
Dogs and cats can overheat quickly, and heat stroke can become life-threatening in just minutes.

🌡️ Watch for these warning signs:
• Excessive panting or drooling
• Rapid heartbeat
• Bright red or pale gums
• Weakness or stumbling
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Confusion, collapse, or seizures

🐾 Help keep your pets safe:
✅ Provide plenty of fresh water
✅ Keep them indoors or in shaded areas during peak heat
✅ Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening
✅ Never leave pets in a parked vehicle—even for a few minutes
✅ Check pavement with your hand before walks to prevent burned paws

If you suspect heat stroke, move your pet to a cool area, offer small amounts of water, and contact a veterinarian immediately.

🐾🚨 RABIES AWARENESS 🚨🐾

There have been confirmed cases of rabies in Florida this year, including three reported within the past week.

📍 June 12 – Polk County
A feral cat confirmed to have rabies after biting five people and a puppy.

📍 June 12 – Hernando County
An unvaccinated cat, that had been attacked by a raccoon, was confirmed to have rabies.

📍 June 16 – Franklin County
A fox confirmed to have rabies.

Rabies is a deadly virus that is nearly 100% fatal once symptoms develop, but it is preventable through vaccination.

In Florida, raccoons and bats are among the most common wildlife carriers of rabies. Outdoor cats are the domestic animals most frequently diagnosed with rabies because many are not kept current on their vaccinations.

⚠️ Florida law requires all dogs, cats, and ferrets to be vaccinated against rabies.

Keeping your pet's rabies vaccination up to date is one of the simplest and most important ways to protect your pets, your family, and your community.

Help prevent rabies:
✔ Keep rabies vaccinations current for all dogs, cats, and ferrets.
✔ Avoid contact with wildlife and stray animals- especially feral cats.
✔ Report unusual behavior in wildlife or stray animals to local authorities.
